I'm very happy with my little tetsubin. The interior enamel finish is nice and the iron is clean. A better term for this would by a kyushu or teapot. I only give it four stars because the kettle cannot be placed directly on heat, at all. You cannot put it on a stove. The water must be heated in something else, then placed in the kettle for steeping the tea. I had hoped to be able to place it on my electric stove, but the instructions indicate this should never be done. Somehow heating water in a plastic electric heater takes away from the authenticity. Also, a classic tetsubin would not have an enamel coating because this blocks the beneficial release of iron into the tea. I will likely look for a cheap stove-top tea kettle. That said, I like that I can keep my tea warmer much longer now, and this teapot is excellent for steeping and Japanese tea ceremonies. It looks really nice in my kitchen, too.
