(More customer reviews)I replaced the gerbil sized grate in our fireplace with one of these. It's a much better shape, holds wood well enough, and very sturdy. But we found the massive gaps between each bar let the wood fall through as it wood burns.
I never had issues with logs wanting to roll out the front as another reviewer has experienced, and I generally use the "fake" logs. I've used real wood too, and invariably most of the material will end up under the grate festering in the ash.
I tried putting the oven's grill grate over the top, it fits rather well. Unfortunately that melted. Oops!
I'm now looking for a replacement.
