(More customer reviews)I have no experience using this cooktop. However, I just installed it. (Actually, I installed its sister, but with stainless trim on the sides.)
There are two gigantic issues:
1) Watch the dimensions of the cooktop very closely. I mis-measured my existing cut-out or mis-read the Whirlpool literature and ended up having to cut my Corian countertop (do-able, but very difficult, messy, and time-consuming).
2) THIS COOKTOP HAS ALUMINUM WIRING!!! I find that absolutely astonishing! I'm a real diy-er; I've completely re-done the electrical in our house in Houston, TX. However, I have have no experience connecting aluminum to copper. I know it's messy and easy to screw up. Thus, I get to call an electrician to do this for me. I find it inconceivable that Whirlpool would have aluminum wiring on this unit. I would triple-check before I buy this or any of their other units.

(More customer reviews)Remodeled out kitchen and ordered this cook top and on oven from Ikea. The cook top I wanted had to be pure black, not the type with the hazy looking surface I've seen on many brands. It is gorgeous but I'm still getting used to it. The burners don't seem to be calibrated properly in that they don't seem to reduce heat very quickly and the simmer mode is way to high. I have had glass top models in other homes and that was not an issue.

Frigidaire FFEC3025LB 30 Electric Cooktop - Black Review

(More customer reviews)This cooktop heats up FAST, and adjusts to temperature changes quickly. Varied burner sizes are amazing, and I can fit pans on multiple burners at the same time, even when using a 14" skillet. Cleaning is a bit difficult; the solid black surface is unforgiving, but it will make me put more effort into cleaning surfaces adequately, which is a good thing!
