Based on traditional design, this Black Ash Bucket & Shovel set is a classic way of containing the ashes & embers while adding a sense of warm elegance to your hearth. Featuring a wide-mouthed open top to easily fill or dispose of your woodburning waste, this also has a tight-fitting Lid to help snuff any live coals. And if you like this style of Set but want another coloration option, look for the sisters of this item in a Copper or Pewter (comparable to a Hammered Iron in appearance) finish. Crafted in Canada & distributed stateside by Minuteman International, one of the top names in Hearth Tools & Accessories. Body & Shovel are composed of 1/16" Steel finished a Gloss Black. Handle features a turned Wood Grip on a Brass Rail. Bucket measures 15" High (16 1/2" with the Lid) x 13 1/2" in Diameter at the Top (10" Base Diameter). Interior height is about 14". Landmann 1508 Hearthmates Black Ash Bucket and Shovel Kit Review

While the can and shovel are heavy/sturdy enough, the black paint applied to both doesn't hold up well to hot coals. When shoveling out the woodstove, the hot coals in the can blistered the paint and actually caused it to burn. The whole house smelled like burned paint and it took some time with a floor fan at the patio door to draw the smoke out of the house.
It might make more sense to have the can and shovel "blued" as they do with firearms, as opposed to painted.
