(More customer reviews)I was looking for a timer to use with my daughter who dawdles, but I wanted her to think of "beat the clock" as a game rather than as a tool for discipline, so I wanted a cute one. She loves all things pink, and ice cream especially, so this one was perfect! She thinks it's a cupcake, which is also good. I looked at the other cutesy timers on Amazon, and some of those reviews indicated that the product was cheaply made and didn't work. This one works perfectly.
I told her it was a new game, and we try to get dressed in the morning or get ready for bed in the evening before the timer runs out. Much more fun for both of us than than threatening a time out if she doesn't get ready quickly. The game is the reward for good behavior!

(More customer reviews)This timer is cute and lightweight (too light!) and mine did work, but it has TWO major design flaws which make it completely useless.
First of all, look at the picture. See that big circle under the LCD screen? That's the START/STOP button. It's HUGE and VERY sensitive, which means if you wear it around your neck, any time you lean over or bump anything the timer will start or stop! At times I accidentally brushed against it LIGHTLY with my arm and it stopped. How much can you trust a timer that starts and stops on its own?! What good is it?
Now, since it has a clip on the back, you could clip it onto your clothing, except for the SECOND design flaw. The clip is upside-down! If you clip it on yourself, the timer is right-side-up for the rest of the world, but when you try to look at it, it's upside-down. (Get my drift? Think of those clip-on watches...)
I'd also like to comment on the Amazon reviewer's claim that the timer is loud enough to be heard in a gym. It would have to be a mighty quiet gym....
All in all, you'd do better to shop elsewhere for your timer. In fact, after trying different ones, I would suggest buying it locally where you can really see what you're getting--and where you won't have to pay for return shipping.
