(More customer reviews)What an applicance!! My house was built in the 60"s and when I bought it in 1972 it came with the original electric cooktop. Gas is sooo much better, for one reason, when you want to adjust the heat you can tell by looking you've done so. And you can get a LOT of heat from the big burner and the small one is so perfect for puddings and sauces. And it is a beautiful appliance to look at. Only the stainless steel comes with the black knobs but you can buy the black knobs seperate and they are very easy to change out and what class it gives your stove. Of course, I guess we would all like to have a wolff or a viking stove but if you can't afford that this is a great stove to go with. I cannot say enough about it. I bought mine at Lowe's but just wanted to let my fellow Amazon
shoppers know this is a fantastic product!!

(More customer reviews)I like this microwave. It works well, has good features. My gripe is one of those maddening little design flaws that makes you pound your head on the wall - or wish you could pound the engineers' heads on the wall.
We have ours mounted above the stove, so the light on the bottom of the microwave functions as the stove light. Lights do burn out, so you would design it for quick and easy bulb changes, right? No. 1) This uses some obscure bulbs I haven't seen before - trip to Home Depot! 2) The mounting is by a Phillips screw that is positioned so that if it falls (and it's screwed in upwardly so it will) it can easily fall behind the stove. And did. But that's not all. 3) The bulbs plug in backward to the front of the stove, so you have to feel with your fingers or use a mirror to push the prongs of the bulbs toward you into the holes that you can't see. All this sounds picky and unimportant, and it is, until your bulbs burn out (ours lasted a year), and then it's a completely unnecessary, stupid irritation. What were they thinking?
Again, it's a good microwave. We love it, except for once in a while when we're going to hate it.

(More customer reviews)I am very disappointed at the poor reliability of this unit. Ours is less than a year old and has failed--now, when attempting to cook, the unit shuts off before the end of the programmed time. Even though the light comes on and the turntable turns, the unit does not heat food. Like others, I purchased this unit based on the recommendation in Consumer Reports; this recommendation didn't pan out. I tried to schedule warranty service and GE is making us wait a week to schedule and their frustrating telephone system does not provide information on where I can take it for service for faster turnaround (and didn't put me in touch with a live representative).
When the microwave oven worked, it worked fine. We replaced a Sharp unit with this one; though this unit has the advantage of a larger capacity, its controls are less intuitive.
Based on poor reliability and poor service, we're certainly not going to buy another GE microwave. We've had good success with GE refrigerators in the past; this is very disappointing. A quick search on the web now reveals that GE microwave ovens are not reliable--many others appear to have similar problems with the magnetrons.
Perhaps this is one reason why GE is looking to sell its appliance business...

(More customer reviews)WE've had this oven/microwave for 4 months now and absolutely love it. We got it so that we could have a second oven without doing a major renovation. So far it's worked well as a microwave and great as an oven. I'll assess them seperatly.
--AS a microwave, it's a little slower cooking than others we have had, but heats evenly, has a turntable, and rack. We really love the dial control...kind of like an ipod, simple and efficient.
--As an 2nd oven it is perfect for us and we actually use it frequently as the primary oven because 1) It heats up faster and cooks faster 2) It is more energy efficient with a smaller space to heat adn 3) it vents outside so it doesn't heat up the house in the summer at all.
As for the price, it is expensive, but was a much cheaper way to get a second oven for us and we are very happy with it.

(More customer reviews)We were very satisfied with this cooktop until someone nicked the edge of the glass surface. That led to a couple of cracks extending from the edge to two of the burners. A replacement glass is priced by GE at $750. This is glass only, not including labor, and insanely close to the price of the new cooktop.
At the moment we are living with the cracks and hoping nothing gives way unexpectedly. In the future we will only buy a stainless steel cooktop. And carefully avoid any GE product that may need a replacement part.

(More customer reviews)"We bought this range over a year ago to replace an old 20 year electric range. I comparison shopped between this one and Maytag's double oven and went with this one because the smaller oven on this one has more height space. We've had it now for over a year now and absolutely love the double ovens feature. The smooth top is easy to clean up. There's a bridge burner that connects the left front and back burner for even cooking of double griddles. The right front burner can be adjusted for 6", 9" and 12" burner sizes and it also has a warmer in the back. I've used the smaller oven for pizza, cookies, biscuits, and a casserole. The rack for the smaller oven has specially designed handles to grasp easily and to safely remove your dish. We have also used the convection oven and love the fact that it comes with it's own thermometer probe and 3 oven racks. With the convection feature, you set your temperature to the regular recommended recipe setting and the oven will automatically kick it down 25 degrees. There are separate timers for the upper and lower ovens which turn them off when time's up and another timer for the stove. The touch pad for the control is very sensitive, so a light touch is all that's needed which ensures the touch pad won't wear out too fast. There a touch pad locking feature for the little ones and the oven also has slow bake, delayed oven start, and warming features. Also, the oven cleaning feature is very convenient; it works well as far as the cleaning the inner ovens, but the baked on spots on the doors itself will still need some elbow grease. Surprisingly the insulated doors work well and are cool to the touch when the ovens are on. One year later and we still love our GE profile dual oven/range!!"
