Camp Chef RCB60 Deluxe roller carry bag Review

Camp Chef RCB60 Deluxe roller carry bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this today, for my Camp Chef Explorer 2-burner stove, at a local sporting goods store. It came in a factory taped box. The bag is a little different from what is shown, mine says CAMP CHEF and SPORT GRILL in big red letters on the front. I think I like the plain bag better, but really, it's just lipstick.
The bag itself is made out of very heavy duty ballistic cloth and is lined in a water resistant vinyl. It has carry handles like the one you see in the picture on both ends, so 2 people can carry it. It has 3 inline roller blade style wheels that look like they are somehow riveted into the bag, as opposed to being screwed in... a cost cutting feature.
There are some skid pads on the back of the bag which will be good as you drag it up a flight of stairs. The zipper opens 3/4 of the way around the top side of the bag making it easy to get the stove in and out.
If you look carefully at the picture you will see that there is a curved area in the back of the bag, I thought this was for wheels, but its really storage for some 1LB propane tanks, at least that's what the picture on the box shows. My Explorer, I think, might be a smidgen too big to have room for the tanks. Besides, you'd need an adapter to use the 1LB tanks, which I don't have.
I also placed two of the single burner cast iron grill/griddles on the stove after placing it into the bag. On top of that I placed the wheel and windscreen bag. This item has 3 heavy duty velcro straps to secure everything nicely. Once I got everything in there I stood the unit up on the wheels and dragged it around, it works really well.
I wanted to get the RCB90 bag for the 3 burner units to give me some extra space, but the bags at the shop did not have the velcro straps... which are very important in keeping everything together.
I think I'll use the rounded area for the propane tanks to store a little tool bag with the miscellaneous hardware, hose, crescent wrench, etc.
All in all, this bag is very reasonably priced for what you get and how it is designed.
If it didn't have the big bold lettering, it would make a nice travel duffel too.

Coleman 70-Quart Xtreme Cooler (Blue) Review

Coleman 70-Quart Xtreme Cooler (Blue)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is for two similar Coleman Xtreme coolers, which are virtually the same size on the exterior: the 70-quart, 5-day, BLUE cooler and the 56-quart, 6-day, GREEN cooler. By the way, these coolers do not come equipped with a plastic shelf to keep food suspended above the melt water.
First, let me say that Coleman made its reputation years ago with its workhorse, white-gas cook stoves and lanterns. Today Coleman mostly makes products for backyard use and casual family camping. Coleman generally does not make quality products for avid outdoors people operating in rugged or demanding conditions, so you can't expect too much when purchasing a Coleman product.
That said, I went through Amazon.com to purchase a Green Coleman 6-day cooler because I didn't want to shell out hundreds of dollars more for a tougher product and because I needed a cooler that would fit comfortably between the gunwales of our canoes. So far, I have used this cooler on two river trips, the first of which lasted seven days in southern Utah during September, 09. The weather was hot, but could have been hotter. Our block ice lasted 6 days, and on the 7th day we had plenty of ice water, so the cooler achieved its 6-day rating.
This was followed with a 4-day trip in October, which wasn't long enough to test the cooling performance of the cooler, but did reveal the cooler's low-quality construction. On the second day out, one of the handles came off when its plastic retaining pin fell out. A member of our party had with them a smaller Coleman Xtreme cooler, and both of its hinges were broken off and useless. So, if you plan to use this cooler much, I would suggest taking the preventive measures described below. And then try to be gentle with it.
A few weeks ago I purchased a 70-quart, 5-day Blue cooler at Wal-Mart for $30. At this price I couldn't pass it up. Apparently the store had a few of these left over from last year, and they were being sold at a deep discount because Wal-Mart is featuring a different Coleman Xtreme product line this year. I haven't used this cooler yet, but I can describe how the two Xtreme coolers compare physically.
NOTE: See my "customer images" available under the main product photo to see what I am describing here.
On the exterior, the two coolers are indistinguishable except for the colors. Same cheap plastic hardware on both. On the interior, the 6-day green cooler has noticeably thicker walls implying more insulation, and thus 20 percent less volume than the blue 5-day cooler.
Here are the fixes I have adopted in an effort to overcome the flimsy hardware issues. When I got home from the second river trip, I used a screwdriver to pry out the plastic retaining pins on the two handles (two pins each) and glued them back into place with Gorilla glue. This I expect will hold the pins in place for a while. On the newer cooler, I removed the plastic handles altogether and replaced them with rope handles. This type of handle has the advantage of remaining in a fixed position (unlike the original sliding plastic handles) allowing me to run a strap between them to secure the lid in case of a canoe upset.
On the interior of each cooler, I have screwed into place a short nylon strap between the lid and the side wall. The strap is long enough to allow the lid to open beyond 90 degrees and remain in an upright and open position, but the strap is short enough to prevent the lid from extending backward far enough to place excessive strain on the hinges. I am hoping this will keep the hinges from snapping anytime soon.

The Coleman 70-Quart Xtreme Cooler is the ideal traveling companion. The large icy blue cooler and white lid are lined with a full two full inches of insulation and the hinged lid also features a secure and tight gasket seal, ensuring that your cooler will keep food and beverages chilled for up to five days at temperatures of up to 90 degrees. Holding up to 98 beverage cans with ice, this cooler features two-way handles for easy lift and maneuvering in tight spaces, and the sump-lined drain promises easy clean-up and no-tilt draining--a plus for this large capacity cooler. This model’s lid can be fitted with 24-inch cords (not included) for additional dry storage--lawn chairs, beach towels, picnic blankets, etc.--on top.
About Coleman The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Camp Chef Dutch Oven Dome for Propane Grill Review

Camp Chef Dutch Oven Dome for Propane Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Camp Chef® Dutch Oven Dome
This is a great new product, if you want to try Dutch oven cooking for the flavor and benefits of cooking with cast iron. This is the ticket.
FIRST LOOK: This looks like a space alien fireman hat.. The box has a great picture of how it works.
Heavier than expected since the diffuser is a steel to keep the bottom of the Dutch oven from burning.
The reason this works is it is like a Dutch oven on top of the Dutch oven! Bringing the heat down without charcoal.
PROS: works for "first timers" and Dutch oven vets
Compact folds to the size of a book
Fire proof
CONS: Everyone tells me they are always out of stock.
could use a small handle to take off the stove
it takes some test runs, as you can see the diffuser is a must run it real low temp otherwise bottom will cook first.
I am going to do some deserts and post a follow up.
Fishgriller approved product!
FOLLOW UP POST: Spring 2011 - still using this product have found that if you plan around the Dutch oven being slightly warmer on the bottom, any recipe will work.
ANOTHER cool thing, you can do a Sante Cabin Kitchen 14-Inch Pizza Pan put it right on top of the burner and put the dome on top (NO Dutch Oven) it will warm up the toppings so the bottom doesn't cook too fast.

By diverting, trapping, and circulating heat, the Dutch Oven Dome creates a convection oven for your cast iron outdoors. The combination of the included heat diffuser plate and the Dutch Oven Dome provides the most effective heat distribution method for cooking with a Dutch oven. By cooking on a gas stove you can also reduce or eliminate the cost and mess of charcoal.

Camp Chef BB100L Sport Grill Box, Black Review

Camp Chef BB100L Sport Grill Box, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Camp Chef BB100L Sport Grill Box, Black
In the BOX:
Cast Iron Grate preaseasoned
Dome top lid with vent
Lid with handle on top
Fits Camp Chef Explorer Series EX-60LW 2-Burner Modular Cooking System, Black stove
Also Fits Expedition 3X Triple Burner Stove
NOTES from the Field:
PROS:
Cooking on cast iron is always better.
Can use as a smoker by putting pellets or wood chips under the grate
Grease burns away for easy clean up
Can use two side by side for a large "tailgate" cooking surface.
Lid is completely removable.
CONS:
Cast iron grates need to be oiled and kept up (I use Camp Chef CSC-8 6-Ounce Bottle of Cast-Iron Conditioner to keep it black.
If you fill the grill with higher fat meats it will drip a little since it cant burn off all the grease.
(this is only a problem if you are not camping or have it on a deck) Solution pad or cardboard for huge burger cookouts.
Sometimes I wish it had a hinged lid because when you take it off "where do you put it?" the step up model has a lid and deluxe handle.
works only on a camp chef stove.
Overall, the best accessory for your Camp Chef Stove....
the Griddle may be a close second.
If you cook as much as me you need products that can stand up to frequent use, from the field to the grill
Chef Kurt

Camp Chef Professional Series TB-90LW Tahoe Deluxe 3 Burner Modular Cooking System, Black/Red Review

Camp Chef Professional Series TB-90LW Tahoe Deluxe 3 Burner Modular Cooking System, Black/Red
Average Reviews:

I purchased this product almost 2 years ago and have been very happy with the quality and performance. Recently one of the valves began to leak propane so I called Camp Chef to order a new one. I fully expected to pay for the valve - the product is out of warranty and has been well used. To my surprise, the operator told me the valve would be shipped no cost. Camp Chef builds great products and truly stands behind them!

Camp Chef Professional Series DB-60D Pro 60 2 Burner Modular Cooking System, Red/Black Review

Camp Chef Professional Series DB-60D Pro 60 2 Burner Modular Cooking System, Red/Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this stove because it looked easy to set up. I'm not sure the windscreen helps much. First time I used it the wind blew the fire out on low. The wind comes from underneath. I used a diffusser plate under the cast iron one burner griddle it seemed to be hot all over. This stove has plenty cooking power. Medium was plenty hot for the griddle. This 2 burner is about as heavy as I want to be lifting around. However the 3 burner is only 5 inches longer. My first breakfast cook out I seemed to run out of burners. So since then I have purchased a one burner Camp Chef to go with it. This is neat the Griddle & BBQ grill fit right on it. I purchased a carry case for the two burner Camp ChefCamp Chef Professional Series DB-60D Pro 60 2 Burner Modular Cooking System, Red/Black and after putting in it the first time I was disgusted. The hardest part of breaking up camp was putting the stove back in the carry bag. So now I just have it in the back of the pick-up. The zipper is already shot after one use. Just use the box the stove came in to store it and you will be a happier camper. I purchased all this cooking equipment from Amazon.com with one click and it shows up at my door from UPS. I love shopping this way because you can get what you want. Not what the store has in stock.

Camp Chef SPG-90B Big Gas 3 Sports Grill, Black/Red Review

Camp Chef SPG-90B Big Gas 3 Sports Grill, Black/Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Camp Chef SPG-90B has been a perfect choice for a camp stove and the BBQ box makes a good combination on top of this 3-burner stove. It is much sturdier than it looks in photos. It sets up in 2 minutes, and really IS portable despite having 3 burners. We wanted to look at one in person, but couldn't find a retailer anywhere in the area so we took a chance on buying this on the internet. Delivery was FAST! However, the photo on the internet shows a rack underneath and the description clearly says that it comes with a rack underneath. FYI - It doesn't. You have to buy one separately and it's $20-$30 from other sources. We do not regret this purchase though.

Camp Chef RCB90 Deluxe roller carry bag Review

Camp Chef RCB90 Deluxe roller carry bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bag is very nice. It has handles on both ends, and rolls - which is great because the stove inside is VERY HEAVY! But, it's not meant to also carry the flat 2-burner griddle that came with the stove (you're supposed to purchase an additional bag for that - but we made ours fit in this one). It also doesn't have handles on the long sides so that you can carry it like a suitcase - you have to either have a really long arm-span or roll it.
Overall, for what it is meant to do, it is a good, sturdy bag. Just know that it has little extra room and could use an extra handle.

Camp Chef BB-60L Deluxe Sport Grill Box for 2-Burner Stoves
Right out of the box: This was easy to assemble, came with the tool to put on the handle.
I like the beefy handle with the lock down lid so you can carry it like a suitcase.
The grate is pre seasoned cast iron, this is great for cooking the temp is nice and even and hot enough to sear a steak.
It says you can sprinkle some wood chips under the grate and it also can work as a smoker which would be interesting to throw a little extra flavoring.
My stove is the Camp Chef Explorer Series EX-60LW 2-Burner Modular Cooking System, Black and it locks into the frame perfect. Now I have a barbecue and a cooker.
Great accessory.

Camp Chef Explorer Series EX-60LW 2-Burner Modular Cooking System, Black Review

Camp Chef Explorer Series EX-60LW 2-Burner Modular Cooking System, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've really enjoyed using this product. The price for the stove is not all inclusive for maximum enjoyment. In addition to the stove, you'll also need to purchase a propane tank. I'd also recommend the cast-iron griddle/grill plates designed to fit on the stove. You probably only need one, but if you want two they'll cost you about $20 a piece.
You can probably use standard cookware as you would on an oven range, but I've only used cast-iron cookware on the stove. If you have more expensive cookware, you may want to consider investing in a diffuser plate as the stove flame can be very hot! I haven't done so yet, but you also may want to consider installing the igniter which I believe costs $5-10 per burner. I also purchased the Camp Chef bag for transporting the stove. Even while in the bag, the stove is very heavy and not fun to carry around. Like I said in the title, this is a perfect stove to take camping if you're in a car and don't have to carry it far. For its power, it stores very well. Because it stores in a compact area (roughly 36x18x8) set-up is slightly more complicated than comparable stoves but remains fairly simple. You just slide the four legs into the bottom of the stove, snap the wind-shield in place, and plug in the propane tank. I've seen other stoves that have legs which simply fold up or down. All-in-all, this is a great product!
