I'm sure that it would also accommodate a larger boiler. Mine is a PM Research horizontal boiler. It burns clean and hot and it is a great alternative to coal.

Dual Stage Combustion, How it Works:
WoodGas burning systems effectively burn the fuel twice. In thefirst stage, combustion air is driven into the fuel to create some smoke(or wood-gas). (More customer reviews)This is a rather cheap unit. Yes, it works. You must constantly reapply conditioner to the cast iron, that's the easy part. The worst part for me is , after 9 month's of use, the thin drip bottom of the BBQ box is flaking away with rust. Apparently it was only cheaply painted steel, not porcelain like it should be to withstand the heat and drippings of meat. I don't expect it to last more than a season or two. I expect more from a BBQ box than this.
I have yet to contact Camp Chef to see what they'll do, I'm hoping they will offer a solution.

PROS:
Cooking on cast iron is always better.
Can use as a smoker by putting pellets or wood chips under the grate
Grease burns away for easy clean up
Can use two side by side for a large "tailgate" cooking surface.
Lid is completely removable.
CONS:
Cast iron grates need to be oiled and kept up (I use Camp Chef CSC-8 6-Ounce Bottle of Cast-Iron Conditioner to keep it black.
If you fill the grill with higher fat meats it will drip a little since it cant burn off all the grease.
(this is only a problem if you are not camping or have it on a deck) Solution pad or cardboard for huge burger cookouts.
Sometimes I wish it had a hinged lid because when you take it off "where do you put it?" the step up model has a lid and deluxe handle.
works only on a camp chef stove.
Overall, the best accessory for your Camp Chef Stove....
the Griddle may be a close second.
If you cook as much as me you need products that can stand up to frequent use, from the field to the grill

(More customer reviews)I purchased this stove because it looked easy to set up. I'm not sure the windscreen helps much. First time I used it the wind blew the fire out on low. The wind comes from underneath. I used a diffusser plate under the cast iron one burner griddle it seemed to be hot all over. This stove has plenty cooking power. Medium was plenty hot for the griddle. This 2 burner is about as heavy as I want to be lifting around. However the 3 burner is only 5 inches longer. My first breakfast cook out I seemed to run out of burners. So since then I have purchased a one burner Camp Chef to go with it. This is neat the Griddle & BBQ grill fit right on it. I purchased a carry case for the two burner Camp ChefCamp Chef Professional Series DB-60D Pro 60 2 Burner Modular Cooking System, Red/Black and after putting in it the first time I was disgusted. The hardest part of breaking up camp was putting the stove back in the carry bag. So now I just have it in the back of the pick-up. The zipper is already shot after one use. Just use the box the stove came in to store it and you will be a happier camper. I purchased all this cooking equipment from Amazon.com with one click and it shows up at my door from UPS. I love shopping this way because you can get what you want. Not what the store has in stock.

Slight adjustments of the burner controls seem to have little effect on the flame until rotated nearly off (might be an issue if seeking greater control of heat). Our recommendation is to use durable cookware (possibly cast iron) that can stand up to a higher-than-you-may-expect level of heat. We actually ruined one Coleman stock pot when the non-stick coating completely flaked off. Not complaining; I just want buyers to be aware of the cooking power this thing produces. The built-in igniter lights the flame instantly, and the flame is perfectly generated and balanced between the burners. Water boils faster than ever. We chose a stainless stove for its resistance to corrosion near saltwater. Clean-up was simple using pre-moistened anti-bacterial wipes. This is a no-frills piece of equipment that really gets the job done. Our only complaint is that it does not ship with the Century stove carrying bag (we purchased it separately and it is adequate to prevent scratches and dust accumulation, but is nothing more than a zippered nylon, unpadded bag).

Portable Butane Stove Review

(More customer reviews)This butane stove is sturdy and strong. It's big enough that you don't have to worry about the whole thing tipping over, the way you do with a tiny camping stove.
The butane canister kind of looks like a large bottle of hairspray. It's simple to install the butane canister - you just put the canister in there gently and flip a lever to connect it - there's no chance that you will get it in there the wrong way. (You don't have to pour any fuel in with a funnel, or anything smelly like that.) When you are ready to store away the stove, you just disconnect the butane canister, pop the plastic cap back on, and put it away.
I found out that butane canisters can be purchased on the web, but the shipping costs are more than the cost of the canisters, so it's easier to buy them locally at restaurant supply stores, or sporting/camping stores. On the other hand, if you are in the middle of a big weather disaster, and every store in town is sold out of butane canisters, then who cares about how much it costs. Thankfully UPS and Fedex deliver will stuff to your door, even in the middle of a winter wind/ice storm. Normally a butane canister costs about $2 or $3, and lasts around 3 hours. It's better to have a few in the garage, because they sell out pretty fast during a big windstorm, even in a metro city area.
This is a great stove for when the power goes out. The next time we get a windstorm, and the power goes out for 3 days, like it did during the big windstorm of Jan 2007 in the metro Seattle area, I'm all set.
By the way, I would recommend getting a butane stove even if you have a generator, because you will need the generator to run some lights and a heater. It's not much fun to have to disconnect the heater and the lights from the generator, , in freezing weather. With a butane stove, you can have your coffee, and your lights and heater too. It makes life much more pleasant during a long power outage.

Swiss Army Volcano Stove (3 Piece Set) Review

(More customer reviews)These things boil water very quickly, with very little fuel. You can bring a liter of water to a boil in about 5 minutes with a fist full of leaves and twigs. Not only is this a great tool for boiling water, but it is also an excellent fire starting tool in general. The stove has the perfect dimensions and ventilation to ignite dry fuel quickly, and to dry and ignite small amounts of wet fuel as well. The open top design allows you to load and dump fuel quickly when it is not being used to boil water.
One thing I do not like about the stove is that the bottle has no holder or handle, and cannot be manipulated outside of the stove until the contents cools or is used up. I find myself using the cork as a handle, pressing it in tightly, and then picking the bottle up with it, but I know this is not the safest way to do things. However, as previously stated, you CAN manipulate the bottle while it is inside the stove with a little cognizances of the potentially hot fuel in the bottom of the stove.
The cup, also being aluminum, must be handled with as much care as the bottle, but does have a handle, so it can be held with hot contents. All of this said, the aluminum construction also means the stove can be packed back up pretty quickly because once the fuel and the water are removed, it only takes a few seconds for everything to become cool enough to handle and pack back up. The thickness of the walls of all pieces, and the corrugation of the stove itself make this item especially resilient, considering its mostly aluminum construction.
Once you are aware of the caveats, and discover that this thing has many other potential uses than boiling water and cooking food, it is hard not to make room in your pack for it. I recommend this product to anyone who needs a reliable camp/survival stove.

Sterno Single Burner Folding Stove - 50012 Review

What I love about this is that in addition to being a good sterno stove, it also is very useful as a mini-grill for cooking. For example, I put it in a firepit, drop about 10 pieces of charcoal in and I can cook breakfast using very little charcoal. I think I have cooked with it either with wood or over wood in the past. I've had it for about 10-15 years and it has held up well.
