Char Broil T480 Three-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill, with Sideburner Review

Char Broil T480 Three-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill, with Sideburner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I purchased the Char-Broil T480 3-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill I did so for several reasons: features, reliability and price. For me the Char-Broil had more of what was important than any other grill I looked at.
Assembly:
On a difficulty rating I'd give this a 7 and I've put together everything from Bikes to Ikea Furniture. Out of the box this didn't scare me, but it did take about 45-60 minutes from start to finish.
Use & Features:
It has an electronic ignition for all of the burners. My only complaint so far is that the button is rubber and dried up very quickly from the heat. Mine detached from the grill, but still works as long as it doesn't get lost.
The warming rack although a great idea, hasn't really been useful to us. Even though it's raised up on the back portion of the grill it takes up too much space and makes getting to what is grilling beneath it very difficult.
The side burner is great for heating up sauces, baked beans, making grilled onions or even frying bacon.
Temperature gauge on outer front is useful. I'm not sure of accuracy, but it has helped me pre-heat the grill when I do things like tri-tip or beer can chicken.
The two wheels on the bottom make it easy for me to maneuver around on our deck and also for storing.
Grilling:
I used to be a firm believer of grilling only with briquettes, but when you want to do it as often as we do it's just not possible. During the summer we use the grill about 2-4 times a week and during the winter we still use it at least once a week. I have become very comfortable with this grill, knowing how long to preheat, how long to cook and what works best. The 3 separate burners allow me to heat only the grates we need. Most often it's one for just a small dinner, but we have had all three going when cooking for a large crowd.
Clean-Up:
After cooking I give the grates and initial scraping with the Mr. Bar-B-Q Wide Grill Brush and then I usually turn the burners I had been using up to HIGH for about 60 seconds. This seems to burn off any excess food and keeps it ready to go for next time. As long as you take care of this grill you should be able to get many years of service and delicious food from it!
Storing: We purchased a cover for it since we do have it out year round (and in rainy Seattle no less). This Weber 7555 Premium Cover, although not meant for our grill, has been our favorite one. The quality of the materials and weight of it have kept ours clean and covered even through some pretty bad storms. We figured it we were investing the money in a grill; we should invest in this too.

Broil King Model 900214 Porta-Chef Liquid Propane 16,000 BTU Portable Gas Grill, Black Review

Broil King Model 900214 Porta-Chef Liquid Propane 16,000 BTU Portable Gas Grill, Black
Average Reviews:

The unit was essentially as presented on line and easy to assemble. But I guess I did not pay enough attention. There is no side shelf to hold trays, dishes, condiments, etc. AND none appears to be available as an accessory. Also, there is no way to hang utensils from the unit nor is there any accessory available to handle that problem. I would suggest the stainless steel unit from the same company which appears to have both, for about $30.00 more.

Coleman Quick Pack Grill - Black Review

Coleman Quick Pack Grill - Black
Average Reviews:

I used this grill for tailgating and camping for a few summers and have really enjoyed it. The legs are admittedly a bit tough to get out of the holes sometimes but it is a minor inconvenience. When grilling I always am sure to fill the bottom pan with water, it makes cleanup a breeze. I like that the grill top is removable, I use the burner with pans and my Camp Coffee Pot. When my husband and I bought our first house we even used it before we took delivery on our appliances and (bigger) gas grill. This is a nice starter grill, serious tailgaters will want more, but enjoyable for a couple of people and super portable for camping.

Kuuma 83727 Profile Portable Outdoor Gas Grill Review

Kuuma 83727 Profile Portable Outdoor Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My husband and I love this grill. This is actually a marine BBQ and meant for boats but we got it because we live in a small city apartment and it's perfect for our balcony and is landlord approved.
The construction is actually very solid, the grill is made from stainless steel which is not only an attractive feature, but easy to maintain as well. It is very easy to take the grill apart to clean the parts. The previous reviewer commented on not being able to attach a gas canister sideways, but I don't know why you would need to do that or even want to. From my knowledge gas canisters are dangerous and only to be used properly, connecting it sideways would make me think it would leak and be dangerous. We actually bought a mount for ours and use that to support it, it's a black base type thing. Again, attractive in looks and doesn't take up much space on our already tiny balcony. The whole design is a very modern, streamlined design which fits into our decor, may seem silly to the average griller but trust me, it matters to their wives. Its nicer than having a huge half ton grill that takes up way too much space and is impossible to clean.
As far as performance, the grill is amazing. We grill on it literally EVERY night. We have two children under the age of two so fast, easy, healthy dinners are mandatory for us. Every night we grill fish, chicken, veggies, the best part of this grill is how fast it heats up. Dinner can be done very quickly, which helps out tremendously. The grill has lasted amazingly through our numerous uses. Again I believe it's a marine grill and probably meant to be used for those romantic nights out on the boat and not as a dinner staple as we use it-but it works for us. We could probably get rid of our stove, but not our grill.
It's a great product, numerous uses, and lasts through continual use. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five is because now I see the company has an electric version and I would rather have that one so I never have to worry about buying gas canisters but can just plug it in.

Char-Broil M580 SS Quantum 4-Burner Infrared Gas Grill, Stainless Steel Review

Char-Broil M580 SS Quantum 4-Burner Infrared Gas Grill, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Infrared cooking is different than the cast-iron open-flame and aluminum charcoal grills I grew up with. Some adaptation of timing and techniques is required, but once you get the feel for it, you can get awesome results. Infrared heat is both more searing and less dehydrating. That might seem like a contradiction, but it isn't. The temps get higher, but without as much convection, so you get more browning and crusting and less hair-dryer desiccation of your food. Less drying also makes it better suited for slow roast BBQ than open flame. After a little practice, I'm getting exactly what I wanted in terms of results.
The build on this grill is solid, with the possible exception of the tiny hinges on the sideburner lid. I can live with that.

Char Broil Magnum 500 Four-Burner Gas Grill, with Sideburner Review

Char Broil Magnum 500 Four-Burner Gas Grill, with Sideburner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I see so many people that submit reviews here that don't even own the product. Well, I own a very similar Charbroil, so I can actually tell you how great it is.
Is a Weber better? Certainly. It also costs two to three times as much.
I can say that the Charbroil I have gets up to 500-600 degrees, perfect for searing meats. And everything we have grilled on it has been fantastic.
It is not made of high grade materials. Why? Because they cost much more. But they don't make the grill cook better, they make it last longer. So, you have to decide if paying $900 for a grill that lasts 10 years (you will still have to replace the innards two times) or a grill that lasts 3-4 years that costs 1/3 the price is best for you.
Personally, I like the latter. And there are ways to make sure your grill lasts as long as possible no matter what you buy. First thing I do out of the box is coat every stainless steel piece with WD-40. Every screw as well. And always the side burner. This rejects some of the moisture that builds up in these units.
Get a good cover. It makes a huge difference. A cover you can easily put on and take off is key, because you will use it, which, of course, is the only way it is effective.
I also take vasoline to every exposed screw and moving joint in the unit. I skip the ones that heat up, but there are so many places where rust can begin and it cannot begin under vasoline.
Repeating this process before winter and in the spring does wonders.
The burners will rust. Part of the deal. They rust in all grills because the heat impacts them dramatically. Be prepared to replace them at least once in the four years this grill performs for you.
Finally, look for Charbroil's and the like on sale. When you buy an expensive grill, they are rarely discounted that much. But Charbroil's and the like have regular clearances. We bought a last season model almost identical to this one, but that came with a rotisserie, for $199 (It sold for $369 the year before). And we got two free tanks of propane for our trouble.
Comparing a Charbroil to a Weber is like comparing a Camry to a high end Lexus. The Lexus, certainly, is a better car. But in reality, they both do exactly the same thing and the Camry costs a small fraction of the price. Compare apples to apples and never rank a product you don't own. It is unfair to those considering the product.

O-Grill 3000 Portable Gas Barbecue Grills Review

O-Grill 3000 Portable Gas Barbecue Grills
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this grill. It's cool looking, has a great storage box feature and a nice large round cast iron surface.
It's lid is key when cooking on the beach or in a windy situation. I also have the Weber q 200 and while that grill is great I prefer this one for transportability and color. The Weber runs about $200. I lucked out and bought this one on Amazon on sale for $136.00. I can't speak to the longevity of this grill but I would buy it over the Weber if I had to choose one.
From what I understand the manufacturer of the O-3000 is an expert in making propane tools. It shows with this grill. The regulator seems to be very high quality, the auto ignition button works in a snap and the flame from the stainless steel burner is solid, strong and blue. I've only had it a few weeks now and hope to give another review after a long summer of beaching, tailgating and camping.
UPDATE;
Well, Ive had this grill for over a year now and its still great. I use it on the beach and camping. It still burns strong and even.
The food the design and the ease of use make this a great grill to own. In fact, I just bought the O-Grill 1000 model ( smaller version) for more intimate beach and camping days and I LOVE it too!

Weber 426001 Q 300 Propane Gas Barbecue Review

Weber 426001 Q 300 Propane Gas Barbecue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had the Q300 for about 10 weeks and grilled on it 3-4 times per week. Grilled steaks, roasts, chicken (both direct and indirect heat), pork
loins, hamburgers and hotdogs and the Q300 handled it all.
Gets hot fast:
From start with both burners on high...3 minutes grill is at 310 degrees....7 minutes 400 degrees.....10 minutes 520 degrees....14 minutes maxes out at 590 degrees
I like to cook chicken and pork over indirect heat, so I really like having the two burners with separate controls. The larger burner runs the perimeter of the grill and a second, smaller burner, goes down the center.
Outside burner only (High)..maintains 400 degrees,(Low)..300 degrees
Center burner only (High)..maintains 300 degrees,(Low)..200 degrees
Both burners on (High)..maintains 590 degrees, (Low)..500 degrees

Brinkmann 810-5000-0 All-In-One Outdoor Cooker, Black Review

Brinkmann 810-5000-0 All-In-One Outdoor Cooker, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This All-in-One idea is really cool. As a smoker, it's very good. Easy to maintain temperature by adjusting the gas flow and air intake. It's a little dificult to run at low temps (200f) if the weather is warm. If you turn the gas down too low, a slight wind will blow out the burner. We solved the problem by giving it more gas, but starving the intake of air.
As a grill, it's not very good. It works, but not very efficiently. We have to crank the gas up real hot to get the pumice warm enough to sizzle steaks. We found that in charcoal mode, it works best after putting a grill inside, raised slightly above the vented tray bottom with some spacers. Put the charcoal on the raised grill. The extra air under the coals makes for a hotter fire.
Now the great part; fried turkeys. This is no 30,000 BTU camp stove. The burner on this baby really puts the heat on 4 gallons of oil. It's almost scary how powerful the burner is.
One final word; this setup does not come with a propane tank. If you don't have one, count on another $25-30 bucks, and on big projects, make sure it's full. Theres nothing more depressing than getting halfway through a 8 hour turkey smoke and run out of fuel.

Average Reviews:

I just got this grill...it's a state of the art tabletop grill. The grill is already put together, so it's essentially ready to be used "out of the box". The grill is very light, so it's efficiently portable and easy to carry. It can fit on small or large tables and comes with a stainless steel veggie plate that is great for cooking vegetables, kabob's etc. It's got a easy to attach catch pan dipper that just slides on under bottom of the grill. The grill starts immediately (push and turn to light the burner) and the heat comes on quick; the temperature gauge on the top is very accurate and allows superior cooking capabilities, which is the best part of this grill. i cooked chicken the first night i got the grill, and it came out perfectly. For those of you using Weber or other more commercial grills, I'd recommend looking at this. I use to have a weber, used for tailgates etc - this grill is 10 times better and reasonably priced for it's quality.

This is a rather cheap unit. Yes, it works. You must constantly reapply conditioner to the cast iron, that's the easy part. The worst part for me is , after 9 month's of use, the thin drip bottom of the BBQ box is flaking away with rust. Apparently it was only cheaply painted steel, not porcelain like it should be to withstand the heat and drippings of meat. I don't expect it to last more than a season or two. I expect more from a BBQ box than this.
I have yet to contact Camp Chef to see what they'll do, I'm hoping they will offer a solution.

Char-Broil 08401504 Grill2Go ICE Portable Gas Grill Review

Char-Broil 08401504 Grill2Go ICE Portable Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I live in a condo and only have a 1-car garage so, while I wanted to have a grill, there isn't much room in the garage (with my car in there) to have a big grill. The Grill2Go is nice because it is much slimmer (in depth from front to back) than pretty much any full-size grill I've ever seen. Sizewise, one of the downsides is that the 2 side trays do not fold down so, if you want to store it with the side trays, it is going to take up additional space width-wise beyond the size of the actual grill assembly. It wasn't a big deal to me, though I WAS used to having fold-down side trays in all my previous grills.
Before writing this review, I used the grill to cook a variety of foods because I wanted to be able to report on how the grill performed in various circumstances. The foods I grilled on 4 separate occasions were: smallish New York strip steaks, thick-cut pork chops, chicken breast chunks with veggies on skewers (aka shishkebob), hamburgers and hot dogs.
What I have learned about using this grill during this time is:
1. It is VERY important to give the grill adequate warm-up time. The instructions say to turn the grill on high and leave it to heat up for 15 minutes. In my experience, I would say that 20 or 25 minutes may be better, especially if, like me, you prefer a nice sear and grill marks on your food.
2. The instructions say to leave the grill on high for 15 minutes after you're done cooking to let the grease and such burn off. The books says that all the gunk is supposed to turn to ash. This was NOT my experience.
3. Each 1-pound propane container is adequate for a 15-20 minute warm-up, approximately a 20-30 minute grill time and a 15-20 minute "burn off" but not much more than that; i.e., don't expect to get multiple grill sessions out of each canister. And it is recommended to remove the canister when you put the grill away (i.e., don't store the grill with the canister attached). NOTE: The grill does NOT come with propane. I was able to find the 1-pound canisters at my local Lowe's.
4. The instructions say that if you're going to be grilling something fatty (i.e., steaks or burgers), you should leave the grill lid UP during grilling to lessen the chances of flare-ups. I did this on my first use (grilling 2 NY strip steaks) and ended up with steaks that were perfectly cooked on the inside and delectably tasty, but gray and bland on the outside--i.e., almost no searing or grill marks. Since then, I have left the lid closed almost 100% while grilling and have found that I had no flare-ups and had much better searing and grill marks.
5. While there is no question that the grill gets hot, I am used to cooking on a charcoal grill and I just don't seem to be getting the sear on this grill that I am used to. Perhaps that is just the nature of gas grills. I haven't owned a gas grill before, but I've eaten food cooked on them at other peoples' houses and never noticed the food looking gray like those steaks did.
6. Today was the first time I tried to warm up food in a pan on the grill. I was trying to heat up a pan of baked beans to go with the hot dogs I was grilling today but, after quite a long while on the grill, the beans were barely even warm, so I had to take them in and put them on the stove. Luckily, I was home and could do that. Perhaps if I had waited until the grill was fully heated first, I may have had a different experience.
7. While the concept of a portable grill that has built-in coolers is FANTASTIC for tailgaters and those who picnic at the beach or park, I found the reality less alluring. The grill is HEAVY, even with the coolers EMPTY! There's no way that I could get the grill into a vehicle by myself. Also, the handle which lifts up (like on a rolling suitcase) to move the grill does not lock into place, so it makes moving the grill really awkward--especially if you are a small person as I am and especially if the grill is HOT and you can't put your hands on it to steady it!
The accompanying video will give you a look at the grill in action.
I give CharBroil an A for effort as I think it is just an awesome concept. But, while I have really enjoyed having a grill again and love its small profile in my garage, the reality is that I would not be able to use it for its intended purpose without at least one other person (if not two), hence I could not give it 5 stars. Further, even moving the grill from the garage to the driveway to grill can be awkward because the handle doesn't lock in place. All in all, 3 stars.
Note: The grill comes partially assembled but still requires a good bit of assembly. Due to the weight of the grill components, my neighbor, who is a retired engineer, put it together for me. He said it took him about an hour. Given the number of pieces and screws, I'd estimate that it would have taken me about twice that time IF I'd have been able to hold up the grill assembly and use the screwdriver at the same time, which I didn't think I'd be able to do.

Designed with on-the-go grillers in mind, this portable gas grill works as well on the back deck or patio as it does at the beach, a campsite, or tailgating parties. The collapsible unit features two durable wheels and a lift-and-lock mechanism--similar to rolling luggage--for smooth transport from one place to the next. When ready to grill, just lower the handle, extend the grill to its full height, slide on the handy side shelves, and connect the regulator and fuel tank. The grill requires a 1-pound LP cylinder for operation (sold separately), and it features Char-Broil's patented infrared cooking system, which reduces overall cooking time, uses 1/3 less gas, and creates no exposed flames, so there are less flare-ups to worry about. The grill may cook faster and more efficiently, but it doesn't sacrifice seared-in flavor or mouthwatering results.
Best of all, the unit provides a generous 290 square inches of grilling space for anything from hot dogs and hamburgers to salmon fillets, veggie shish-kabobs, thick slices of fresh pineapple, and other favorites. To add smoky flavor to meat and vegetables, simply drop wood chips through the grates and lower the lid using the stay- cool handle; choose from a variety of wood-smoking chips, including mesquite, hickory, alder, oak, or cherry (not included). For added convenience, the grill comes equipped with two removable coolers that sit side by side on the bottom shelf (a protective shield on the bottom of the grill keeps them safe from the heat). Each 30-quart cooler offers two easy-grip loop handles, a wrap-around zipper, and ample space for filling with ice, food, drinks, and other items that need to be kept cold. The portable gas grill measures approximately 29 by 44-1/2 by 37-1/2 inches and carries a 90-day limited warranty.

Cadac 6541HP Safari Chef Grill 5-in-1 Portable Cooking System Review

This is a fantastic product. Each attachment is well designed and extremely useful, especially the lid which doubles as a pan. I used my grill for the first time today and it was a jiffy to set up. The heat was strong and even and afterwards, the whole thing folds up conveniently into a portable carrying case. Perfect if you don't have a lot of storage space. All the parts felt sturdy and well-made. Definitely a quality grill.

Exceptionally versatile, this portable grill allows for cooking in five different ways thanks to interchangeable cooking surfaces--a camping stove, a mini fat-free BBQ, a fat-free nonstick ribbed grill, a flat grill, and a wok. Whether camping in the great outdoors, traveling, or cooking-out in the backyard, the grill can be used to cook up everything from a hearty breakfast to s'mores under the stars. The unit's conventional grated surface works well for barbequing veggie burgers or kebobs, while its Teflon-coated nonstick grill plate can be used for grilling steak or chicken. The reversible grill plate features a skillet on the opposite side for frying eggs or making pancakes. Even more, the lid functions as a saucepan or a wok for stir-frying, and a pot of water can be placed right over the flame to boil water for instant coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Thoughtfully designed, the grill directs grease away from food and prevents flare-ups, and its nonstick cooking surfaces ensure effortless food release. Dishwasher-safe parts make cleanup a snap, and fold-away support legs allow for compact storage and easy portability. A convenient carrying case comes included. The 7300-BTU grill should be used only with a disposable 1-pound propane cylinder (available at most grocery stores and retailers). The portable barbeque grill measures 20 by 15 by 17 inches and carries a two-year warranty.

Coleman 9940-A55 Roadtrip Party Grill Review

Coleman 9940-A55 Roadtrip Party Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great little portable grill - if you don't expect too much! (Too many people write reviews here expecting inexpensive items to be gold plated and nuclear powered). It's not meant to replace a regular full-size grill and shouldn't be compared to one. Use it for car camping or a tailgate party for cooking for two or three people (maybe four but that's pushing it) and just realize it has limitations, though they are easy to work around.
I got it on sale for only $25 so consider it an excellent value. It was simple to put together, no directions required and takes about a minute. My legs stay in well once inserted and come back out with a good tug. There is an included nylon carry-bag which works fine for keeping the parts together (the grille, two legs, gas bottle, pan support and plastic grille cover). It also functions well as a regular single-burner stove when you take the grill off. It feels stable and solid if set on a good surface.
The burner adjusts well from off to low to high and is quick and easy to start by pushing the burner control knob in. The drippings collect well in the pan below the burner. There is a small griddle on one side of the grill that will hold one egg or pancake (or two small ones). The biggest drawback is the heat distribution. Since it uses a small burner in the middle and has no heat distribution baffle; it is much hotter in the center than towards the edge. You get around this by actively moving your burgers around to keep them cooking evenly (this can be an advantage if you want something to cook slower by pushing to the outside). Coleman says you must put water in the catch basin, which seems to distribute the heat a little better but I think that is also to reduce the possibility of a grease fire. I tried it a couple of times without the water and it worked OK.

Overall, it is a good value when used for what it is intended for. I think Coleman could have designed the grill with better heat distribution without significantly adding to the cost, so I give it four stars.

Blue Rhino GBT1030 Portable Propane Barbecue Grill with Griddle and Stove Review

Blue Rhino GBT1030 Portable Propane Barbecue Grill with Griddle and Stove

I was looking for a SMALL portable grill that I could use for hamburgers. This one fills the bill. I suspect that this wouldn't be a good choice for larger items to grill, but it is perfect for our use, and the hamburgers were just the way we like them!
We gave up on large propane grills a long time ago, and we have been using charcoal, but even then, by the time we buy the charcoal and wait for it to heat, we have been avoiding grilling - just not enough food for the expense and the effort.
This portable grill has about 10 by 12 inches grilling surface, about right for four frozen hamburger patties. If you make your own, you might be able to squeeze six on the surface. The other half of the grill has a stove burner and removable griddle on top. You can place a pot directly on top of the burner to cook. Both burners are controlled by separate knobs, meaning you only have to heat up the area you are actually using. It has a push-button lighter, so no matches are needed. It is a great item that could easily replace a propane stove for camping, adding grilling as a nice option.
It is perfect for my husband and I to grill a small amount of food without wasting a lot of fuel. The additional burner makes it a nice item to keep on hand for "emergency preparedness." It folds up nicely, and is easy to carry with you or store on a shelf in the garage during the winter. I especially like the fact that it has a locking top which makes it easy and safe to carry.
BUT, there is a caveat. If you are terrified of assembling items, do NOT buy this cute little grill. It comes with 18 parts that are assembled with 30 screws, wing nuts, washers, lock washers, pins, and cotter pins. There are 4 sizes of screws and other essential matching parts. The instructions said that assembly should take about 30 minutes. It took me close to two hours to finish.
On the plus side, it comes with the only essential tool - the Phillips Head screwdriver, and all parts matched up well, with only a few awkward spots to assemble. Instructions are pictorial - which can be either a plus or minus depending upon the way you enjoy your assembly instructions. In my case, although it took longer than the instructions stated, I never felt overwhelmed by the task.
If you would like a grill that uses a larger surface, you will want to consider another one, but if you are like us and want something portable, handy, and small, this one works nicely.
Oh, and if you are considering this as a wedding gift, you might want to assemble it for the newlyweds, lest their marriage not survive the assembly. :)

Texsport Insta-Light Propane Stove and Grill Review

Texsport Insta-Light Propane Stove and Grill

I had never heard of the Texsport brand name before so I had some reservations about buying it. But the price was right so I rolled the dice. When I pulled it out of the box I was a bit disappointed. The hinges on the lid seemed a bit flimsy. But everything else seemed to be pretty good. The frist time I used it I was impressed. I have a cast iron pan and the side burner heated that up really quickly! When it came time to cook some burgers on the grill portion it was very windy. The side panels provide very good wind protection and the grill heats up nicely. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. All that's left now is to see how long it lasts.
