(More customer reviews)I love perculator coffee makers because you get HOT coffee. I had a different brand that had some poorly designed features. What I really like about this West Bend pot is the water level indicator, (although it starts at 8 cups). The only wierd problem is that every 10 min. or so it momentarily starts re-perking, to keep the coffee warm. If you don't remove the coffee ground holder it will send the hot water back through the grounds.

This highly polished stainless steel with black phenolic base and handle unit also has a stainless steel filter basket and perk tube. A plastic cover knob shows when the coffee is perking and a ready-to-serve light shows when the coffee is ready. There is a coffee level indicator in the handle and also a detachable cord.

(More customer reviews)I do not understand what has happened in the coffee maker industry. It seems as if every coffee appliance I buy fails. This one is no exception. I bought this one only because most of the reviews praised it. Now I am sure that the reviews are phony and must be posted by the manufacturer. There is no control over the time of percolation which for whatever reason has been designed to be too short. The coffee comes out weak especially if you try to make less than 12 cups, the water just doesn't make it through the strainer for less cups??? The manual suggests using 20 spoons for 12 cups of strong coffee. At this rate I will essentially be using double the coffee grinds to make the same amount of coffee as I did with a much older Faberware I had and the coffee is still weak. The new faberwares are just as bad as everything else manufactured these days. The reviews and the item description also touts that this coffee percolator has a glass knob. This is an outright lie, it is plastic!!!! I was initially pleased with the design although I feel it is made with a lighter guage metal than it should be. I would gladly pay double for this product if it worked. Don't buy it, it is another coffee maker dud!!!!!

(More customer reviews)There is a better and far cheaper filter if you are using these for for your 12 cup electric percolator. (Westbend, Presto, Hamilton Beach, etc)
Believe it or not, it is the ubiquitous 8-12 cup basket coffee filters that are used by everyone who has a drip coffee maker. There is no hole so you simply center the basket filter on the percolator tube and push the filter down over the tube with your thumb and fingers close to tube to make sure that the puncture is not much larger than the size of the tube. You will find that even if you tear it a little larger than the tube when you press the filter down over it there will be no problem with coffee grinds getting through.
After you do this you will have a nice paper basket filter inside you electric drip coffee maker that works better than the small round disc filters that they sell for these and save money on these expensive wrap filters.
One additional tip about cleaning electric percolators. I fill the pot with 12 cups of water and then put one of the Cascade w/ Dawn dishwasher packets in the basket.

I then put it together as if I was making coffee and let it go for a cycle. When the light goes on after the brew cycle I let the hot dishwasher solution sit for a while. Then I pour it out, rinse the pot and run another cycle with just water. This cleans the stainless pot and basket and even the bowl at the bottom.

Rival BD275 Stainless Steel Double Burner Hot Plate Review

(More customer reviews)A complete and utter waste of money, the Rival BD275 double burner hot plate worked exactly half of one time.
I bought this because we were remodeling our home and we needed something to cook on in the temporary kitchen the contractor set up for us. Thinking a double burner hot plate would be a good and inexpensive solution for our "kitchen", I ordered this from Amazon who promptly delivered it a couple of days later. I plugged it in and waited and waited and waited for an interminable amount of time while the unit heated up. I couldn't tell if the unit was on because the light indicating power to the burner wasn't working, but I felt some heat rising from the element so, no big deal. Anyway, after about 15 minutes it got to a medium warm temperature, despite the fact that I had it set to high, and I started to cook my kids some eggs. I made it through two of the boys breakfasts when the unit shut down and wouldn't start up again.
The long and short of it: don't buy this piece of junk. It's not worth the bandwidth or even postage to send it back to Amazon for a refund. Rival should be ashamed of themselves for the lack of quality control in their products. Get a clue, Rival!!
