I bought this for myself and then ended up getting another as a gift for family. This is the perfect tool to get outdoor grill results without the outdoor grill. This is great for apartment dwellers without a patio. I highly recommend it.

The deep-sided design prevents splattering onto the stovetop and the handy pouring lip directs cooking juices and excess fat away. The pan can be "deglazed" after cooking with water, stock or wine so the flavors and juices of cooking can be served "au jus" with the dish. To check that the grill is hot, scatter a few drops of cold water over the surface.

Bayou Classic 7442 14" Square Cast Iron Reversible Griddle Review

Bayou Classic 7442 14 Square Cast Iron Reversible Griddle

This is a very robust piece of cookware. I give it a 3 star because realistically, you'll only be able to use one side, so pick which one you will want to use and stick to it. The reason is, once you've got one side all good and seasoned, when you flip it to use the other side, that seasoning you worked hard to get will warp and you have to start over; Also, whatever you cook on the other side will taste like stove burner because that's where it's been all this time!

I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere, unless you are only looking to cook in the middle 9" circle of this griddle. There is absolutely no heat transfer outside this area. We eventually bought the All-Clad electric griddle from W-S. We are very happy with that. It's an excellent product, but way more expensive...

Weber 7404 Cast Iron Griddle Review

Weber 7404 Cast Iron Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After much confusion over which griddle would work with my new Summit 670 LP Grill I finally contacted Weber directly who told me that the 7404 was the correct product. Weber offered to sell it to me but as I'm an Amazon Prime member I could not pass up the "free" 2nd day shipping I could get direct from Amazon on this product.
This is a very heavy porcelain enameled griddle that is reversible (you can see both sides of it in the product photo). I gave it a very light and fast wash with some dish soap and warm water and then dried it thoroughly.
The first time I used the griddle I gave it a heavy spray of olive oil and let the grill get up to about 400 degrees. I have observed you will get very fast and thorough heat by applying direct burner heat under the griddle as well as turning on a different burner to medium temperature for ambient heat.
Made some fish on this and it came out wonderfully (I used the textured side for the fish and there was no fall apart of the fish as is typical when being cooked directly on the stainless grates on the grill itself). I really look forward to using the smooth side of this for making breakfast items, fajitas and other things that will cook great on the grill.
Clean up is a bit of a headache as you must take the heavy griddle off of the grill, bring it into your kitchen and clean it up. Arguably if the griddle is well seasoned you can just give it a quick wipe down with a cloth.
So why only 4 stars? Well, the griddle fits the grill so tightly that you actually can't put it at either end of the grill, due to the bolts on the back of the grill pushing the griddle forward just a bit so you can't close the lid of the grill. You need to scoot the griddle a couple of inches over to clear this bolt if you want to close the lid (which you probably do).
The other issue I have is that there is no good way to store this. It would have been nice to see something like a liner, etc, that could be used to encapsulate this so you could store it in the grill cart. If you just slide this in it will scratch up the finish on your grill, you don't want that!
All in all this is a reasonable value for money paid, it's a great addition to your Summit 600 series and makes even more flexible cooking on the grill possible.

Lodge Pro Logic 12-Inch Square Griddle Review

Lodge Pro Logic 12-Inch Square Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this griddle to replace my Teflon one - trying to replace all my teflon cookware piece by piece. I'm VERY happy with it. It came pre-seasoned and ready to use, and I've used it a dozen times already; for pancakes, for quesadillas and most recently, for grilled cheese sandwiches. It does take some "getting used to". It is very heavy for one. And it takes a while to pre-heat, because you don't want to heat it up too fast. I usually start it out on low heat (around 3 or 4 on my electric range). I pre-heat for about 5 minutes. This way, the heat gets evenly distributed. If you start cooking too soon, yes, it will be unevenly heated. Once you bring it up to heat, you need to watch it to make sure it doesn't get too hot. I leave it on 3 or 4, closer to 3 for pancakes, closer to 4 for grilled cheese - and it has cooked everything perfectly. Cleans up like a professional non-stick item and is tough, tough, tough. I use my steel pizza cutter to cut through quesadillas right on the griddle before serving them - something you definitely CAN'T do on Teflon!
Admittedly, a few drawbacks - the weight, the long time to pre-heat. But once you get used to it, you will love it just like I do.

Lodge Pro Logic Cast-Iron 14-Inch Pizza Pan Review

Lodge Pro Logic Cast-Iron 14-Inch Pizza Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is divided into two parts:
1. A short review for those who want quick info
2. A long review for those curious about the ins and outs of this great piece of cookware.
I have also attached photos (see customer images above)SHORT REVIEW
Pros:
*Preseasoned
*Multiple uses
*Makes best pizza ever
*Heats evenly
*Won't stain
*Provides iron in diet
*Easy cleanup
*Made in the USA
Cons:
*It is 11 pounds (Not a con for me, but could be heavy for some)
Bottom Line:
Glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone interested.LONG REVIEW
What comes in the box:
*Lodge Logic Preseasoned Pizza Pan 16 x 15 x 2.5 (** Cooking surface is 14 inches **), 11 pounds.
*Recipe Card with recipes for: pizza dough, pizza sauce, muffuletta pizza, mushroom & sweet pepper pizza, herb roasted potatoes, & instructions on how to care for your cast iron.
Preseasoned:
Preseasoned is a great thing but realize what it means. It means that it is on its way to being fully seasoned; like 2/3 of the way done. Before you can get that true black cast iron slickness, it still needs one or two more rounds in the oven with Crisco or just cook a pound a bacon on it like I did. Multiple uses:
*Pizza Pan
*Roasting vegetables
*Overall Baking sheet (bake cookies, breads, biscuits, fries, pastries, etc). Please note that flavors can transfer onto the pan so you may have to clean it between different uses.
*Griddle on stove for eggs, bacon, pancakes, burgers, hot dogs and similar items
*Stir Fry (Use it on one burner; the middle gets the hottest and it gets cooler towards the edges, just like a wok!)
*Broiler Plate for the oven
*Shallow roaster
*Tortilla warmer
*Crepe/dosa maker
As a side note I have used this in the oven at 450 degrees without a problem. Just remember that the pan will be extremely hot and any sudden changes in temperature may cause the pan to warp or crack so please be careful. For example, if I took the pan out of a blazing hot oven and ran cold water on it right away, it may bend or break.
Pizza:
It makes the best pizza I have ever had. The pan heats evenly all the way to the center creating a perfect, uniform crust. I sometimes make my own dough but in a pinch I go down to my favorite local pizzeria and buy some dough from them. The pan can make crispy or soft pizza.
Everyone has their own method to making pizza and this is mine:
For crispy pizza:
Place the dough on room temperature Lodge Pro Logic Pizza Pan and put it in a 400 degree oven for 5-8 min. Once the dough starts to get firm, take it out the oven, spread out a half a cup of sauce, and evenly cover with cheese. At this point you can add whatever toppings you like (make sure meat toppings are already cooked). Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes until desired crispness. 2 minutes before I pull it from the oven, I add a little more cheese so it is just melted and gives you that string cheese pull like in the commercials. (see customer image above)
For softer pizza, follow the same directions as above without first baking the dough.
I serve & cut the pizza in the pan. Although the pizza does still cook while in the pan, I noticed it basically keeps it warm until the last slice. I use a pizza cutter from the dollar store which will cut the pizza but will not scratch or scrap the seasoning off. If you cut your pizza in the pan, please be careful not to scratch seasoning. If you do, just reseason (see below).
Because it is cast iron, it won't stain like a pizza stone or get those burnt spots like aluminum does. Also, cooking in cast iron provides iron in your diet because the food absorbs some of the iron.
Size:
It makes a pizza big enough for 2 people with a good appetite (assuming they have a side dish) or 3 people with less of an appetite. Sometimes the pizza is so good I can eat the whole thing myself! Normally, I eat about 2/3 of the pie along with a side salad and I am satisfied--I do have a good appetite. If I had a large family, I would definitely consider buying two. Of course for you folks with the large family, try one pan first and then make the decision yourself. (The photos included above do have a US quarter in the picture so you can gauge the size of the pie).
Clean up & Seasoning:
After cooking, take a dry paper towel while the pan is still warm and wipe it down (if it is really dirty use a little water but I never use soap). If you use water, you can reheat the pan to get it dry. After it is clean and dry, spray it with Pam and then wipe away any excess oil. Place pan back in the warm oven or on top of the burner just used. That's it! The residual heat will reseason the pan while the oven/stove is cooling down. Food never sticks using this method. If your seasoning ever comes off, just apply some oil and bake in the oven; repeat as necessary. Be careful not to use too much oil while seasoning or you will get a sticky or gummy residue on it--this should be avoided.
An added bonus is that it is made in the USA by Lodge, so you can buy and use with confidence knowing this product was made here by a company with over 100 years experience in the business. Lodge customer service has always been super helpful and friendly to me.
So in conclusion, this is a great pan that I am sure you will love as much as I do!If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them. I check this post regularly and would love to hear from you!
I hope you found this review helpful. Thanks for reading.

Cook up delicious homemade pizza with the help of this round cast-iron pizza pan. The unit measures a generous 14 inches in diameter by 1/2 inch deep--large enough for dinner with the family or for appetizers on game night with a group of friends. And thanks to its heavy-duty cast-iron construction, it cooks its contents beautifully, spreading the heat quickly and evenly throughout the bottom and retaining heat in a way that turns out excellently cooked pizza crusts. In addition to pizza, the pan can also be used for making roasted veggies or baking biscuits and cookies. Chefs will also appreciate the pan's large loop side handles that make it easy to transport from the kitchen counter to the oven and back out again.
The pan hails from Lodge's Pro Logic line, which updates the classic Lodge look with contemporary rolled edges and graceful curved lines. Pro Logic items are also pre-seasoned through a proprietary "electrostatic" vegetable-oil spray system. The pre-seasoning process readies the pan for cooking right out of the box, making it far more convenient than old-style cast-iron items that required oil and oven seasoning before use. The timesaving process also generates a nonstick finish that helps preserve the cookware for generations. As with most cast-iron cookware, Lodge recommends hand washing the pan to protect the surface. Made in USA, the seasoned 14-inch pizza pan carries a limited lifetime warranty, and pizza recipes come included.

Lodge Logic 11-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Grill Pan Review

Lodge Logic 11-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Grill Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this pan. At first I was skeptical and a little hesistant about cooking with cast iron. Growing up in the south I knew the magic of cast iron cornbread made with fatback, but I also knew the special care that went into seasoning the beloved pieces of cookware. When I saw that this was preseasoned I went for it. I worried that it might be a lightweight pan and only sublime quality for the price but I was pleasantly surprised. This pan has a heavy weight to it and is crafted solidly. I've used it for hamburgers (they make the best I've ever tasted), grilled chicken, pork chops, and shrimp (YUM). Something I learned is that things tend to stick a little so coating the pan with vegetable spray is a good idea. Also, try soaking your shrimp in a mixture of butter and garlic before grilling it. I am in love, it hasn't even left my kitchen counter to go into the cabinet since I bought it because I use it so much. My husband being a Yankee wasn't used to the goodness of the cast iron but now that he sees how perfectly it browns meat while still leaving it moist he is hooked. With this pan I find the grooves to be so helpful. You can season the meat without worrying about all the seasoning burning to the pan. Also they're nice and deep so that the fat that does run off actually stays off the meat. Cleaning it is SO easy! I just run hot water into the pan while it's still hot from the stove then use a sponge or dish towel (NO SOAP) to wipe it out, rinse it off, and then spray with vegetable spray while it's warm before putting it away. I have to say that Lodge has a loyal fan in me. With quality old time cookware like this, without the hassle of seasoning it first you can't go wrong.

Lodge Double Play Reversible Grill Griddle Review

Lodge Double Play Reversible Grill Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've got lots of cast iron, but this is my new favorite. Here are a few tips for other users. The griddle is perfectly flat and well-made, but it tips from corner to corner on my burners. It's an issue with the design of my burner grates, not the grill. If you have this problem, just fold up a little piece of foil and stick it under one of the edges that tips. Problem solved.
People often complain about foods spilling off a griddle. If that's happening, then you should cook that type of food in a skillet. Skillets and griddles each have their own purpose, The low profile edges on a griddle are suited to foods that stay put but take up a lot of surface area, like eggs, pancakes, steaks, vegetables. They made the low edge so it will be easy to get a spatula under those foods. Foods that produce lots of grease should not be cooked on a griddle, unless it's just a couple of strips of bacon. If you're trying to cook up lots of greasy food, use a skillet. They are designed to hold liquids, hence the tall sides. So, you guys who complain about grease running off your griddle when you cook a pound of bacon, stop complaining and get a skillet to hold liquids.
Yes, the center will be a little cooler than the ends. Don't worry. This is natural. Use it to your advantage. Put slower-cooking things in the center or add food to the center first so it starts cooking before the food on the ends. Just like on a charcoal grill, it can be helpful to have a "cool zone" (actually a not quite as scorching hot zone). Make sure you let it heat up evenly over low heat before turning it up to medium / medium high, this discourages sticking. Also, for you people moving from teflon, never turn or move food in an iron or steel pan until the food has browned. The food does indeed stick, but then releases from the surface on its own when it is browned. Wait for the food to release itself. Be patient. Also, make sure steaks, etc. have no water on them when you put it on the cooking surface. A little oil helps food release, water encourages sticking.
Clean it while it's hot before it can cool off, or food remnants will be harder to remove. Scrape it with a metal spatula. Then wipe it with a paper towel dipped in oil. Done. Also, clean up will be easier if you cook liquids and super greasy foods in a skillet, which is easier to wield (and clean in a sink) when hot. Don't want to leave your clean, hot griddle to cool on the stove? Use oven mitts to cary it to the oven.
This is a great product. I consider it an essential and helpful sidekick to a 12 inch cast iron skillet. It's ready to go right out of the box. Pancakes came out great and did not stick, even though I used almost no oil on the griddle. Works on the charcoal grill, too for small foods that would fall through the grates. Take it camping as an easy to set up grill. Use it in the oven as a cookie sheet. Great for small pizzas with crispy crust.

Lodge Logic LPGI3 Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle Review

Lodge Logic LPGI3 Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I absolutely adore this griddle, and I use it almost every day.
At first, I wasn't sure that I wanted a cast iron griddle. They are HEAVY and not dishwasher safe . . . so I tried a few nonstick brands first --top dollar brands with high ratings.
I hated them. The nonstick surface was inferior. On a reversible griddle, the underside became sticky and difficult to clean. The heat was distributed unevenly. One claimed to be dishwasher safe, yet when I put it in the dishwasher, some of the nonstick surface came off.
I am extremely health conscious, and I use very little oil when I cook. Food often stuck to the "non-stick" surface -- go figure.
I wanted to find a great griddle that I could use for many things, including cooking like the chefs in Japanese Steak Houses -- I dreamed of using a small dash of my favorite oil and flinging shrimp, chicken and veggies on the griddle like a pro. No, I didn't think I could toss my tools in the air or catch the shrimp in my pocket . . . I just wanted the flavor and the ease of cooking.
By this time, I was on a quest, and the non-stick stuff just wasn't cutting it. I did a little research, and I learned that pros recommend the Lodge griddle, so despite my apprehension, I thought I'd give it a try.
Wow! The pre-seasoned surface is perfect and better than any non-stick surface I have ever used. Just a tiny bit of non-stick spray is all I need, and everything from pancakes to eggs flip with ease. Grilling Japanese style works perfectly.
On the grill side: whole steaks, chicken, fish -- fabulous, fast, and everything has those beautiful grill lines. Nice for grilled vegetables, too.

The griddle is indeed heavy, but it's okay. I wouldn't recommend lifting it if you have serious muscle or joint problems, and I wouldn't want to drop it on my foot, but otherwise, go for it. I'm a softie, and if I can handle it, so can you.
As for not being able to put the griddle in the dishwasher: I don't believe I'm going to say this, but I don't care about having to handwash it. The griddle cleans so easily, a few swipes and I'm done. If I forget to clean it and wake up to it the next morning (okay, so I'm not Suzy Homemaker), I just lay it straight across the top of my sink -- not IN the sink, but rather, balanced from edge to edge, on top . . . and I run a little water over it, let it set for a few minutes, and it's easy to clean.
A word of advice: Just as it says in the instructions, you need to clean the griddle without soap (water only) to preserve the pre-seasoned finish. However, should you want to use soap, you can. There are instructions included in how to re-season the griddle -- it's easy.
I frankly didn't like the idea of not cleaning with soap. I didn't feel as though the germs were destroyed . . . but soap doesn't really kill germs, it merely works as a surfactant that makes water wetter so things become easier to clean.
If you want to kill germs, heat is one of the best ways to do it. Every time you use the griddle, you preheat it on the range for about five minutes or so -- you're killing far more germs than if you had used soap!
You can also rub your griddle with a very light coating of oil, stick it in a hot oven and disinfect it that way (this is also similar to how you reseason it).
This is one of the easiest, most wonderful kitchen tools I own. It is a breeze to use, I feel like a pro flipping all that food around. Everything comes out great, and it is very easy to use, and food does not stick.
I have since added six more pieces of cast iron to my collection, one triangle cornbread/scone, a round muffin/biscuit, and four cast iron skillets. Two of the skillets are antique -- talk about well-seasoned! I do not use the bread/muffin bakers as much as I thought I would, but I use the skillets almost every day. I love them.
PS: I remember reading somewhere that using cast iron also adds iron to your diet. A nice extra, yes?
