The Portable Smokeless Fireplace Heater by PurATron, BLACK. Review

Although there were almost no reviews avaiable I took a chance and bought this. I was not expecting it to be so loud when the heater is on since the description says that it is a realistic fireplace. Once I got used to the noise from the fireplace I opened the box to assemble the mantle. The instructions are a lot less than detailed, just some pictures, and I receievd more screws than listed on the contents. I dont know what they are for yet. When I started to look at the mantle pieces wrapped in thin white foam, 2 pieces were really damaged (piece #1 and #5)Where they were supposed to be nailed or screwed together they were just flopping. So Ive called govacume 4 times and have not had the opportunity to speak to anyone yet. The last 2 times I called it just rang until it disconnected me. I hope they will make this right. It probably wouldnt be that bad a fireplace if the workmanship and packing of the mantle were better.

Infrared Quartz Heater - Empire Cherry Review

Infrared Quartz Heater - Empire Cherry

I had this heater for a month now and have used it on and off this fall. I wanted to use it to heat a 825 sq foot area. The heater could not heat this area. I have a seven year old prefab modular home that is very well insulated. I wanted to heat the open floor plan of the first floor which is 825 sq feet. The outside temperature was 50 degrees and I set the heater on 70. The farther away from the heater the less it heated. The manufacturer stated it will heat up to a 1000 sq feet. The heater is made in China. I decided to use it in the master bedroom which includes a walk in closet, and master bathroom. It worked great there and it's about 400 square feet. It's a nice looking heater and I like the remote control. The heater did smell the first couple of days but got better after a while. If you're looking to heat up to 1000 sq. feet you may be disappointed. I like the heater. I purchased this heater at Northen Tool on sale for [...] plus [...] shipping.

Comfort Zone CZ7007 Deluxe 7 Fin Oil Filled Radiant Heater Review

Comfort Zone CZ7007 Deluxe 7 Fin Oil Filled Radiant Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We live in a large old home in Central PA, and do not have any heating source on our second floor. We heat our home with a pellet stove in our basement which provides a general passive warmth, and we have three gas cast iron stove units on the first floor, which are on a thermostat. Most rooms in our house have large 6 foot windows, our master bath has 3 of them. The room also faces west, and takes the brunt of most of the bad weather in winter, and is a veritable ice box, with no heat source. We use this heater in our bathroom, set the thermostat at medium, and it warms the room nicely. Our bathroom is about 10x10, with a separate toilet and tub alcove, so not a tiny room. This heater is simple to use, efficient, and we have never had a problem with it, even after several years of ownership.

SEI Mayfair Petite Electric Fireplace Review

SEI Mayfair Petite Electric Fireplace
Average Reviews:

This fireplace is awful. There were two sets of directions and each one contradicted the other. There is no way to secure the firebox to the cabinet. The grill door to the control panel does not close unless you want to constantly remove the firebox from the cabinet to adjust the heat and flame. I called the 800 for customer support and a automated voice system answered the call. It said that I would receive a call back during normal business hours. I called during normal business hours unless today is a holiday that I don't know about. Finally, the batteries do not fit right into the remote. I don't know if it works because the batteries which were sent are dead.
I have bought many things from Amazon and this is, I hope, the only bad experience.
While the cabinet looks cute (if you can stand not having the grill door completely closed); it is cheaply made. The heat production is adequate for a small room.

Mr. Heater MH12T Single Tank-Top Propane Heater Review

Mr. Heater MH12T Single Tank-Top Propane Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got a Mr. Heater Single unit about 8 years ago as a backup source of heat after hurricane Hugo knocked out our power for three weeks. It is still working fine and has come in real handy during infrequent ice storms and winter power failures.
My dad liked my single a lot so he bought a Mr. Heater Double to heat a big 3 car garage sized shop. He liked it but now thinks that a single would have worked fine as the double gets that big area heated in no time and keeps it really toasty.
My single unit works far better than gas logs to heat up a room. It does make a hissing sound that is not too loud but barely audible. A single will knock the chill off a large room in no time. A tank of propane will last about 30 to 36 continuous hours if you keep it set on low. I think this is a great alternative to other auxilary heat sources like Kerosuns or a fireplace. With an asthmatic child in our family, a kerosene heater is out of the question for us. This burns clean, creates no odor, smoke or soot. There's no maintenance, no wicks or anything like that. You can store it indefinitely untouched and then pull it out and fire it up with no preparation. I will buy another one if mine ever wears out.
I have recommended Mr. Heater to lots of my friends and family and have no reservation about recommending one to you. If you can't decide whether you need a single, double or triple I suggest trying the single first. Then if you aren't happy step up to the double or triple. It is really amazing how much heat a Mr. Heater Single generates!
It is rare to find a really good product that is durable and an excellent value. Mr. Heater is one of those rare finds. They are the Zippo lighter of auxillary space heaters in my opinion.

If you're looking for simplicity and convenience in an outdoor-only heater, the Mr. Heater MH12T 8,000-14,000 Btu single tank-top propane heater may be the answer. As the name implies, this unit mounts directly to the top of a five- to 20-pound propane cylinder (sold separately). To allow you to choose between conserving fuel or kicking out more heat, the MH12T has three settings, Hi (14,000 Btu), Med (12,000 Btu), and Lo (8,000 Btu). The heater shuts off automatically with loss of flame. Do not use in unventilated areas. One-year limited warranty.--Josh Dettweiler

Five Tips for Buying a HeaterChoosing a space heater is a matter of sifting through a bewildering array of types, power ratings, and fuel sources. Let's break it down a little to make the process easier.

What are the different types of space heaters?
Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the surrounding air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a radiant heater is quiet and will use very little power.
Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or ceramic heating elements. A forced-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but can be noisy.
Convection heaters draw cold air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but also can be noisy.
Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the surrounding air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--perfect for bedrooms.

Should I buy an electric or a combustion model? If you want a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can heat areas larger than a single room, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or fuel like propane, kerosene, natural gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends largely on convenience and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips.

How powerful a heater do I need?Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need:
Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height.
Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good.
The resulting number is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.
Do space heaters cost a lot to operate? As a general rule, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy efficiency, a thermostat is a must-have feature for any heater. For radiant heaters, models with a 360 degree heating surface can heat larger spaces. If you need a forced-air heater, models with ceramic elements tend to be more efficient.

Are space heaters a fire hazard?Space heaters are implicated in about 25,000 residential fires every year. To ensure proper safety, always follow the manufacturer's usage instructions and fill out the warranty card to receive informational updates from the manufacturer. Also, look for extra safety features such as an automatic shutoff switch that can shut down the unit if, for example, it gets upended. In addition, choose a model where the heating element is adequately enclosed within the unit.

Coleman BlackCat PerfecTemp Catalytic Heater Review

Coleman BlackCat PerfecTemp Catalytic Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this from a retail box store for a little more than it is going for here on Amazon for an early season camping trip just 2 weeks ago. It looks great and performs very well. Right out of the box, the two legs that hold it up kept collapsing. I had to tighten each of them up with a phillips screwdriver. It stayed up with no problem after that. It lights almost instantly with a match (more on that later) by holding it against the outside of the ring. For the first while, it was burning off the factory 'oils', etc, so I was a bit stinky. After that, it was fine. I recommend running it outside of your sleeping space for 5 to 10 minutes to get that initial stink out.
It will heat for around 7 hours on the high setting with one standard size bottle of propane. They do not recommend that this be connected to a full size propane tank.
Really the only problem that I had with the unit as a whole was that fact that there was no electronic ignition on it. You have to light it outside of the sleeping space with a match/lighter. I would have bought the one with the built in igniter, if the store had it in stock. Otherwise it works great.

Mr. Heater 80,000 BTU Propane Convection Heater #MH80CV Review

Mr. Heater 80,000 BTU Propane Convection Heater #MH80CV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use the Mr. Heater 30-80K convection heater in my garage, which is roughly 625 SF with high 14 ft. ceilings, CMU block wall, un-insulated ceiling. During winter months of the teens outside, I can bring the inside temp of my garage up to 70 degrees within a short time. However, you may need to hang a box fan up near the ceiling or install a ceiling fan to circulate the heat back down, it puts out a strong trickle of heat in a 360 degree radius that is easy to regulate to keep from alternating between freezing and roasting.
The biggest plus for me with this unit it the lack of objectionable fumes as are produced by forced air kerosene heaters, the propane burns clean and is easy to purchase at my local filling station, no spills or lugging around 5 gallon containers of kerosene.
If massive amounts of heat are what you want, you should consider the forced air propane heater made by Mr. Heater. They put out massive quantities of heat in short order.
I get about 15 hours of use per 25 pound propane tank, the same type my BBQ runs on, by turning this unit on high and then shutting it down to low, alternating this cycle. You can use upwards of a 100 pound propane tank.
The unit is much smaller then I expected which is a plus, it is light and very well made and simple to use.

The Mr. Heater MH80CV 30,000-80,000 Btu portable propane convection heater is ideal for heating large indoor spaces of up to 1,900 square feet. The convection design draws cold air up from the floor through propane burners then distributes warm air out through the top, giving you 360-degree directional heat. The unit features a piezo push-button igniter, adjustable heat output control (from 30,000-80,000 Btu), and an "Insta-Lock" system for easy, tool-free assembly. For safety, the heater shuts off with loss of flame, and the sturdy base keeps it upright. The included 10-foot hose connects to 20-pound (minimum required) propane cylinder. CSA Certified. I bought the Mr. Heater Hose with a regulator and quick disconnect fitting for the Big Buddy Heater. When it arrived, I discovered that I could not connect the fuel filter to the quick disconnect fitting. I called Mr. Heater, and they informed me that I didn't need the fuel filter if I was using a hose with an attached regulator. It would have been nice if Amazon had indicated this fact when I purchased the filter. But, none of the specifications for the product demonstrated this redundency. If you buy the hose with the regulator, then you don't need this filter.

Dimplex Free Standing Cube Stove in White Review

Dimplex Free Standing Cube Stove in White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After the date had expired for the Dimplex stove to be delivered, (remember, I didn't set the delivery deadline!)I contacted the seller who gave the excuse that all the Dimplex stoves were delayed in being shipped. However, once the problem had been addressed, I was offered a 10% discount which was to be credited to my card (it was not explained initially that it would be either a discount on the price of the unit itself or a credit to my account). I have not as of this date been credited (perhaps next billing cycle) but did receive the Dimplex stove in perfect condition within days of my inquiry. I was interested in a unit which did not exceed 1500 watts on the high setting as I was concerned any higher wattage would need a dedicated line; remember though, that most hair dryers are 1600 or more watts but we don't operate them all the time. I really didn't want the flame effect, just the heater which was a little larger than the small ones sold in major stores such as Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc., but to my surprise, the flame gives just enough light so that I am able to turn off the lamp I previously kept on in the room where I have the stove. The blower is very quiet and actually gives a soothing noise which is conducive to sleep. I usually keep it on low but if it were really cold, the high setting would heat a small room or two if they were closed off. It is just enough heat to take the chill off cool evenings. I would venture to say that the heater would be a romantic addition to a bedroom as it is absolutely charming with its glowing flame effect and gentle heat. The stove is only guaranteed for a year, but then so too was a very expensive oven which I purchased for my kitchen and INDEED it was dead in about a year.... so don't expect TOO much from this charming stove for the money. I only wish Dimplex sold these in stores such as Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc., as it puts to shame the heaters/stoves they sell for less money, but who wants their utilitarian heaters/stoves junking up their home? To date, I am very happy with the Dimplex Free Standing Cube stove. As my husband states, "tell them in the review that the stove is lovely." (I can't believe HE said that but he really did!)

I ordered this heater to use in my total electric 21 foot hard top camper to save on the batteries. It does and will heat that space. When the temperature drops below 30, its not quite big enough though. The only thing i don't like about it is, it does not have a control knob to turn it up and down. When it's on, it's on. It will also use a disposable propane tank in about 4 to 5 hours. I used it with a 20# bottle and it will use that in about 3 nights.

This electric stove does warm my 12 x 12 bedroom adequately as a backup, but not nearly as quickly as my old Lasko ceramic heater, which was just too ugly to bear. The thermostat is a dial, located behind the door, near the floor. This keeps it out of sight, but a little difficult to reach. There are no numbers on this dial so one must set it by turning it until it goes on and maintains the temperature you're comfortable with. The on and off switches are also located in the same place. The flame can be turned on without heat, but must be on for heat to work. I took a paper and cut a template and tried to determine the temperature by placing my old Lasko with the digital thermostat next to it. That helped somewhat. Then I marked the template with what I was comfortable with at different settings - one for overnight. So the thermostat was a disappointment. The flames are pleasant, but the Vernon I bought is more realistic (though it did not have functions as advertised). The heater is very sturdy, and attractive. I like the bright red. I replaced the two bulbs (candelabra 40 watt) with 15 watts so I wouldn't feel guilty about burning electrictiy. Generally, lookswise, this heater is perfect for my Victorian style decor and I won't mind leaving it in the room year round and enjoying the fireplace any time. It will also make a cute table top to set my fan on in the summer.
