(More customer reviews)This is an excellent heater for anyone who can provide a 20 amp 210-240 volt power outlet for it. We use the same outlet that supplies our 220 v. air conditioner in the summer months. We set it on Auto so the fan cycles off with the heat when the room temperature reaches our setting. It has a thermal cutoff safety switch that works as it should and cuts off the power if the unit should overheat, such as from a piece of fabric cutting off the air flow. This QPH4A is our basic heat source for one floor of a small house and it really does the job when it's cold outside. The heater is compact and unobtrusive and the best feature in comparison to other heaters in its class is that it is very quiet -- no rattling and wheezing, just a soft woosh of warm air.

(More customer reviews)I bought two of these and spent almost $700 and I am VERY DISSAPOINTED with their performance. You can't even feel the heat unless you are about a foot away from the unit. I live in California where it doesn't really get that cold in the winter but I was interested in saving money on my heating bill and this thing won't even heat my bedroom. The mantle is oak plywood, not solid oak as advertised. The only good thing about them is that they look nice. The Amish are being used as a marketing tool to sell these fireplaces. All of the parts come from China and are assembled by Amish in Ohio, so don't expect good Amish craftsmanship because you won't get it with a Heat Surge Electric Fireplace.

(More customer reviews)This fireplace is awful. There were two sets of directions and each one contradicted the other. There is no way to secure the firebox to the cabinet. The grill door to the control panel does not close unless you want to constantly remove the firebox from the cabinet to adjust the heat and flame. I called the 800 for customer support and a automated voice system answered the call. It said that I would receive a call back during normal business hours. I called during normal business hours unless today is a holiday that I don't know about. Finally, the batteries do not fit right into the remote. I don't know if it works because the batteries which were sent are dead.
I have bought many things from Amazon and this is, I hope, the only bad experience.
While the cabinet looks cute (if you can stand not having the grill door completely closed); it is cheaply made. The heat production is adequate for a small room.

The panel still fits snug, and until I get the piece from Customer Service, it seems to stay in place fine anyway. The flame effect is surprisingly,very good. I did not expect it to be as life-like as it turns out. The heater is very quiet, and actually warms both my living room and dining room, an area approximately 30 x 15, to a comfortable degree. I agree with the poster above that a separate setting for the thermostat and flame would have been great. Also, since it is RF, it doesn't work with my Harmony One remote, but the remote is small and only has an "on" and an "off" button. One strange thing, I looked on the Dimplex site, and can not find this model. Even if it was a closeout, shouldn't they still list the model?

The "fire" in the stove is realistic - especially the glowing embers. To a casual glance it looks like a real fire (although with careful examination the "flames" are not as realistic). The cabinet is very sturdy and gives a well-built feel. The cream color is nice and the finish is durable.
Note that the stove can use a lot of electricity - 15 amps when the fire, air filter, and heater are all working. If you have it plugged into a 15 amp circuit any additional load (a lamp, tv, etc.) on the circuit will trip the circuit breaker. Ideally it should have a dedicated circuit for its exclusive use.

Dimplex Free Standing Cube Stove in White Review

(More customer reviews)After the date had expired for the Dimplex stove to be delivered, (remember, I didn't set the delivery deadline!)I contacted the seller who gave the excuse that all the Dimplex stoves were delayed in being shipped. However, once the problem had been addressed, I was offered a 10% discount which was to be credited to my card (it was not explained initially that it would be either a discount on the price of the unit itself or a credit to my account). I have not as of this date been credited (perhaps next billing cycle) but did receive the Dimplex stove in perfect condition within days of my inquiry. I was interested in a unit which did not exceed 1500 watts on the high setting as I was concerned any higher wattage would need a dedicated line; remember though, that most hair dryers are 1600 or more watts but we don't operate them all the time. I really didn't want the flame effect, just the heater which was a little larger than the small ones sold in major stores such as Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc., but to my surprise, the flame gives just enough light so that I am able to turn off the lamp I previously kept on in the room where I have the stove. The blower is very quiet and actually gives a soothing noise which is conducive to sleep. I usually keep it on low but if it were really cold, the high setting would heat a small room or two if they were closed off. It is just enough heat to take the chill off cool evenings. I would venture to say that the heater would be a romantic addition to a bedroom as it is absolutely charming with its glowing flame effect and gentle heat. The stove is only guaranteed for a year, but then so too was a very expensive oven which I purchased for my kitchen and INDEED it was dead in about a year.... so don't expect TOO much from this charming stove for the money. I only wish Dimplex sold these in stores such as Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc., as it puts to shame the heaters/stoves they sell for less money, but who wants their utilitarian heaters/stoves junking up their home? To date, I am very happy with the Dimplex Free Standing Cube stove. As my husband states, "tell them in the review that the stove is lovely." (I can't believe HE said that but he really did!)

Dimplex CS3311 Electric Stove Review

(More customer reviews)We recently added a sunroom to our home and wanted to try and extend the time we could use it with a space heater. We wanted something that not only provided supplimental heat, but also added to rooms decor. This little electric stove was the perfect addition. Its compact size was perfect since the sunroom had large windows and very little wall space. At only about 2 feet high it fit perfectly. It throws off some heat as well, although I'm sure in the dead of winter here in Boston it may not provide enough to suppress the chill. The kids really love the flame effect that it provides. It looks fairly realistic, but is completely cool to the touch, other than the small blower box on the bottom, so there is no issue with small children playing around it. You can definitely find less expensive ways to provide some heat to a cool room, but if you want something that looks nice and gives off some heat this item is for you.

(More customer reviews)This electric stove does warm my 12 x 12 bedroom adequately as a backup, but not nearly as quickly as my old Lasko ceramic heater, which was just too ugly to bear. The thermostat is a dial, located behind the door, near the floor. This keeps it out of sight, but a little difficult to reach. There are no numbers on this dial so one must set it by turning it until it goes on and maintains the temperature you're comfortable with. The on and off switches are also located in the same place. The flame can be turned on without heat, but must be on for heat to work. I took a paper and cut a template and tried to determine the temperature by placing my old Lasko with the digital thermostat next to it. That helped somewhat. Then I marked the template with what I was comfortable with at different settings - one for overnight. So the thermostat was a disappointment. The flames are pleasant, but the Vernon I bought is more realistic (though it did not have functions as advertised). The heater is very sturdy, and attractive. I like the bright red. I replaced the two bulbs (candelabra 40 watt) with 15 watts so I wouldn't feel guilty about burning electrictiy. Generally, lookswise, this heater is perfect for my Victorian style decor and I won't mind leaving it in the room year round and enjoying the fireplace any time. It will also make a cute table top to set my fan on in the summer.

Dimplex CS1205 Compact Electric Stove Review

(More customer reviews)Some critter got under the house and detached our heating ducts a few years ago so we only use electric heat and ambient heat from other rooms in the livingroom. I was looking for a better space heater after an Econoheat panel shorted and melted while I slept.
The problem with most space heaters is they are UGLY. They look like they belong in a garage. I wanted something that looked like a piece of furniture that wouldn't set fire to my cats and that could heat up a big room with open doorways. I should also mention that I have a humor-based decorating style, so whether someone else will find it tacky or not is of no concern to me. I don't invite people without a sense of humor into my home.
Anyway, I went with this. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being an orange spotlight behind a fan blowing white bits of fabric around like some Halloween decorations, and 10 being a real fire, I'd give it a 7.5. It only looks like a real fire if you're not looking directly at it. The foily logs help a bit and it does have a slight 3D effect that makes it better than some, but even if you add a crackling fire mp3 and burn wood incense in the room no one is going to mistake it for a real fire.
That's not to say I don't like it. It does provide that hypnotizing effect you look for in a fireplace!
Additionally, it was 35 degrees F last night. I live in a farmhouse with 4 inch walls and cellulose insulation. I put it in my livingroom, which is approximately 500 sq feet, with an open doorway, 2 large windows, a sliding glass door, no basement, and an open stairway. It kept the room at 72 to 74 degrees all night.
It seems to be of sturdy construction. The top stays cool. The fan is very quiet. It's also light and portable. Overall I'm satisfied enough to get another one for my office.
