Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot, Blue Review

Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot, Blue

I've used it and sent it back. My iron Le Cruset products are great. This one, made of steel and coated with enamel, started chipping on the exterior and interior after only one month of use. I was not impressed.

The Le Creuset stockpot is styled and colored to match other pieces in the collection, but due to its size is made of steel with an enamel coating. If it were made of cast iron you'd never be able to lift it safely, especially with bubbling soup or stew inside! The lid fits tightly to keep all those delicious aromas and flavors inside. This 8 quart pot is wonderful for simmering chicken stock or marinara sauce, boiling pasta for spaghetti night and steaming bulky vegetables.

Chantal Enamel-On-Steel Soup Pot with Tempered Glass Lid Review

Chantal Enamel-On-Steel Soup Pot with Tempered Glass Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the second of these pots we have owned. The first was a very durable, useful pot. The size and enamel-on-steel construction made it large enough to cook pasta or soup on top of the stove and strong enough to cook a pot roast in the oven, but small enough to fit easily into a dishwasher. The glass top allows you to monitor cooking without releasing heat.

Chantal has been producing the world's leading enamel-on-steel cookware for 25 years now, and along the way we've learned that beauty is only skin deep. Chantal's enamel-on-steel cookware is developed from an age-old recipe that through the years has been perfected to keep pace with today's demanding lifestyles. Enamel-on-steel is made by fusing colored glass to metal - melted together at just the right degree creates a new compound that's durable and corrosion-resistant. In fact, it's so tough that it's used in high-traffic locales like roadway tunnels and subway stations. The "A” quality enamel used by Chantal is resistant to acids and alkalines and is made from natural materials, such as sand and minerals. Because the surface is nonporous, it is naturally stick-resistant, non-reactive to acidic foods and nonabsorbent to oils. This, coupled with the unique characteristic to withstand freezing temperatures, makes Chantal well-suited for make-ahead meals. But the benefits don't stop in the kitchen. Our Cook & Serve pieces are designed to go beautifully from the oven or stovetop to the table or buffet. The beautiful colors are guaranteed to make your tabletop beautiful and are ideal for entertaining.

Granite Ware Stock Pots Review

Pot is unusable for its intended task thanks to the finish coming off on the inside.

This 15.5 Qt covered stock pot is perfect for all your large cooking needs. It's constructed of dark porcelain surface and steel core absorb energy to heat rapidly. There are no PFOA's or other chemicals to alter food's taste, color or healthfulness. Porcelain enamel is the result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a durable vitreous coating on a carbon steel core. It creates a smooth, hard finish that won't burn and resists staining. It's also non -porous so it won't trap odors or food particles and provides a low coefficient of friction – meaning that it cleans up easily and, it is corrosion and chemically resistant so it will last a long time. When fired, the vessel is placed on pins so the bottom and sides are hardened during the firing process into one smooth laminated glass surface. You may notice slight pin indentations where the glass has flowed around the pin that supports the base during firing. The pin marks do not compromise the finish or performance of the vessel in any way but you should take additional care in handling if using on glass top stove.

Emeril Stainless Steel 5-Quart Soup Pot with Pour Spouts and Lid Review

Emeril Stainless Steel 5-Quart Soup Pot with Pour Spouts and Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I think it is important to always start off with something positive, so...
I purchased a 14 piece Emeril Stainless set in 2008, and I have been very happy with it. The fit, finish and especially the base design were all up to the demands of my GE Profile ceramic cooktop, which had mercilessly warped all pans that came before the Emeril set.
I recently purchased this 5 Qt soup pot. When it arrived, I was disappointed to see that a number of changes have been made in the product. So many changes, in fact, that the new pot is not a match for my existing set. The handle, lid and base design have all been modified, and in each case, the appearance, heft and quality have been reduced. The fit of the lid is also poorer. Most alarming is the changes in the base. The core material used here is not copper. The weight and thickness of the base has been reduced significantly (30-40%). There is a large dimple in the base now, reducing the surface contact. (Take note, those with ceramic or high output cooktops) There is no getting around the fact that mass of the base matters. It affects the distribution of heat in the pan, and how resilient the pan will be to abuse.
I guess its partly my fault for assuming that a product sold by the same brand and line (Emeril Stainless) would be the same product. This is not. I will be returning the pot to Emeril, or Martha, or whoever. Oh well it was nice while it lasted.

All-Clad Stainless 6-Quart Stockpot Review

All-Clad Stainless 6-Quart Stockpot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nothing tastes better on a blustery winter's day than a steaming bowl of homemade soup or stew. And, nothing is better to prepare it in than this All-Clad Stockpot.
It seems that a stockpot is one kitchen item that never wears out, so I'd been making do with what we had. But, when I was fortunate enough to be gifted with this stockpot from All-Clad I couldn't believe the difference!
It has a thick conductive base that spreads the heat evenly, not just where the burner might hit it. And, it has solid stainless steel walls that keep the heat in. The lid fits snugly, and it simmers away for hours emitting the most delicious aromas.
The brushed exterior gives it a great look, and it is made to conform to All-Clad's estimable high standards. Soup's on!

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8-Quart Pot with Glass Lid and 2 Inserts Review

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8-Quart Pot with Glass Lid and 2 Inserts
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After stocking up on Calphalon cookware through Amazon, I almost purchased this item after reading the official Amazon review. Fortunately, I examined one while browsing a local store, and saw that only the bottom was aluminum core, not the sides, and the bottom was impact-bonded with a seam. Examine the Amazon close-up picture and you also can easily see the seam at the bottom.
The box I looked at clearly stated this as well. The multi-pot that I examined was definitely Calphalon Contemporary Stainless, not the less expensive Simply Calphalon series. This is not the 8-quart stockpot, which is much more expensive, and does not come with any inserts.
I am purchasing the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless 8-quart stockpot instead, and finding an after-market stainless steel steamer insert. The inserts for this pan and the Simply Calphalon Stainless 8-quart multi-pot do not fit the Tri-Ply. The two pasta inserts that Calphalon offers for sale alone are for the professional and contemporary stainless stockpots only, and also do not fit the Tri-Ply.
The official Amazon review needs to be revised.

Farberware Classic 8-Quart Stockpot with Lid Review

Farberware Classic 8-Quart Stockpot with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the one you use for all of your heavy-duty kitchen needs. Making chili for six? Steaming vegetables? Cooking rice? Making 1 lb. of pasta? Making a soup? Need to store leftovers in the fridge? You will use this pot for years...My mom has had hers for 35 years, I've had mine for 5. How many products do you buy nowadays that you expect to last that long? These pots are virtually indestructible and are beatiful besides. Solid, classic. It lives up to its name.

For decades Farberware has been an integral part of many American kitchens. Here's a pot that will see regular use, season after season, offering up stick-to-your-ribs stews and soups in the winter, and corn on the cob and pasta for salad in the summer time. Many people think of stockpots as the no-talent workhorses of the kitchen--as long as they handle big jobs, conventional wisdom goes, they don't need the conductive qualities of smaller saucepans. That thinking goes out the window, however, when you cook soups, stews, pastas, or chili in a quality stockpot like this Farberware Classic 8-quart product. Like any other cookware item in your kitchen, the better the construction and heat distribution, the more flavorful your food will taste. This Farberware Classic stockpot features a thick, durable body made of 18/10 stainless steel with an aluminum core. As with all Farberware Classic cookware, the core spreads heat evenly across the bottom and sides, conserving energy while uniformly cooking your food. The pot comes with a lid that fits tightly over the top, preserving the flavors inside. Due to the stainless-steel construction, the pot is easy to clean and is corrosion-resistant. In addition, the pot's thick rolled rims means users can pour from the sides without fear of the soup or stew dripping onto the floor or their shirts. The pot features stay-cool phenolic handles that are oven-safe to 350 degrees F. To top it off, the stockpot is dishwasher-safe and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. --Rivers Janssen

Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless 6-Quart Saucepot with Cover Review

Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless 6-Quart Saucepot with Cover
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've cooked with, burned bone dry, and cleaned regular All-Clad almost daily for years so I am pretty familiar with its performance. I'm happy to report that this first Multiclad of mine performs similarly: boils quicker than regular pots with minimal hot spots, and cleans easily. [...]
Instead of going cheap or being a complete All-Clad copy cat, Cuisinart decided to throw in some improvements:
- Longer side and lid handles for cooler handling
- Brushed finish on exterior that goes about 3/4 of the way up hides scuffs
- Impeccable finish. Can't say the same for an All-Clad sauté pan which I payed full price for :(
- Better quality stainless steel? Maybe I just got a good batch, but the luster seems to suggest higher chrome content
Great offering Cuisinart! Keep up the quality and continue to be cost competitive vs. All-Clad and I will be back to supplement my cookware collection with Multiclad individual pieces. And BTW, this 6 quart is indispensable if you are cooking for 3-4 people.

Graniteware 11.5 Quart Seafood Pot with Steamer amd Drainer Insert Review

Graniteware 11.5 Quart Seafood Pot with Steamer amd Drainer Insert
Average Reviews:

When I received this the packaging it came in was perfect, not a scratch or dent on it, but the pot on the other hand....the pot, the steamer, and the lid were all bent. Bent badly enough in different places that the lid wouldn't lay flat without attempting to bend it back by hand...which didn't work. Its scratched so badly that the coating is flaking off. I'm returning asap. If I get a replacement in good condition then I'll change my review otherwise I stand at 1 star for this poorly made and received product. Shame on you Amazon! (Again I repeat: It was NOT the fault of UPS who delivered it, the box was in perfect shape.)
Update on the product its self: Works fine. Deep enough. Love that the basket just lifts and drains away. I used it to make tamales and it held quite a few of them. Still pretty pissed about the condition it was received in. Bent lid on a steamer means the steam doesn't stay in.
