Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot, Blue Review

Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot, Blue

I've used it and sent it back. My iron Le Cruset products are great. This one, made of steel and coated with enamel, started chipping on the exterior and interior after only one month of use. I was not impressed.

The Le Creuset stockpot is styled and colored to match other pieces in the collection, but due to its size is made of steel with an enamel coating. If it were made of cast iron you'd never be able to lift it safely, especially with bubbling soup or stew inside! The lid fits tightly to keep all those delicious aromas and flavors inside. This 8 quart pot is wonderful for simmering chicken stock or marinara sauce, boiling pasta for spaghetti night and steaming bulky vegetables.

Staub Round Cocotte Review

Staub Round Cocotte

I have to admit, having used Le Creuset for years, I didn't hold out much hope that this pot - gifted to me - could possibly be an improvement. The things that I value in an enameled pot were there: heavy enameled, cast iron construction; oven-proof handle; even heat distribution; gas stove-top to oven ease. But that lid? It just didn't seem like it would make that much difference. Boy! Am I happy to be proved wrong!
This pot has out-performed my Le Creuset repeatedly in the two weeks that I've put it through its paces. Sautéeing, braising, stewing, oven-baked casseroles, soup; you name it, this pot has done an exceptional job. Those little bumps on the lid keep everything so much more moist. Also, there is virtually no loss of liquid volume with the lid on. It's an incredibly tight seal. The clean-up is a breeze! And, esthetically, the grenadine glaze is gorgeous!
It is so worth the price, I just purchased the 8 quart round Cocotte for large-batch cooking. I'm definitely a convert!

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 5 Quart Oval French Ovens Review

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 5 Quart Oval French Ovens

We were reluctant to spend the money on this french oven but it was worth every penny. It heats up evenly and browns meat beautifully. We use this 5qt. french oven to make great one pot meals (4 servings). Just last night we made braised short ribs that were mouthwatering. We often use this pan on the stove for browning or searing and then transfer the dish to the oven for further cooking. Other times we use it for slow cooking on the stove. Clean up with the pan is super easy. Everything just wipes right out. The pan is really heavy but that's what makes it cook so well. My wife used to hate to cook (I used to be the only cooking enthusiast in the family) but she loves this french oven because all her recipes come out tasting so good.

CorningWare Creations 12-Ounce Au Gratin Dish, Amethyst Review

CorningWare Creations 12-Ounce Au Gratin Dish, Amethyst

I bought the wrong size...this is REALLY tiny. And it's really not worth returning it, so it will just sit in the back of the cupboard for the rest of time, I suppose! However, the bigger version I was initially after, I love. I actually have been using the bigger one for a year--ideal for Tian recipes. However, it isn't quite as sturdy as you might expect from Corningware and easily chips...which is why I was in the market to replace it.

This pot is beautiful! The blue is vibrant. This is my third enamel cast iron piece and I just love how they brown meat perfectly and clean up great. I can brown 5 chicken breasts at once in this pot, it also reduces liquids quickly. This dish is built to last... heavy, sturdy construction. I will have it for my lifetime and I have no doubt that my children or even grandchildren will use it too!

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Skinny Grills Review

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Skinny Grills
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It says this is a 2 burner grill pan but that is so wrong. It does not cover 2 burners it sits in the middle of each burner causing the handles to be right ove both burners. Very dissapointing, I love the le creuset normally and was really looking forward to having a grill pan made by them. Unfortuanatelly due to the shape it will not work for just one burner either. Hopefully they will come out with an updated one, until then my search for a good 2 burner grill pan continues.

With an additional 3-1/2 inches of horizontal cooking area compared to its square-shaped counterpart, this rectangular grill pan from Le Creuset provides ample room for several portions at once--but at only 8-1/2 inches wide, it still fits on a crowded stovetop. The cast-iron pan heats slowly and evenly, spreading the temperature efficiently across every one of its diagonal ridges. The methodical heating style gives meats and vegetables smooth, seasoned flavor. The ridges not only impart tasty grill marks, but they also drain away excess fat and grease for healthier cooking. Because it's made of cast iron, the grill requires only a low to medium heat setting, making stovetop coking more economical. In addition, the grill pan retains heat once removed from the stove, so chefs can keep foods warm before serving or even gently cook them just a bit longer. Measuring 13 by 8-1/2 inches, the extra-long grill pan works great for cooking larger meals like chicken breasts, fish fillets, hamburgers, corn on the cob, and more indoors while rain pours outside the kitchen window.
Like other pieces in Le Creuset's line of enameled cast iron, the cookware's exterior features a colorful, long-lasting enamel that resists chipping and cracking, while its interior provides a satin black enamel (no need to season the cookware in the oven before use). As cast iron is unexcelled for even heat distribution and superior heat retention, and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the grill cooks food uniformly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating, cooking on the stovetop, or finishing in the oven. The cookware also provides integrated loop-style metal side handles for a sure grip, and it can be safely used at any oven temperature, under the broiler, and on any stovetop, including induction. Beautiful enough for the table yet durable enough to outlive its lifetime limited warranty, the cookware should be hand washed for best results.

Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 11-Inch Skillet Review

Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 11-Inch Skillet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this pan for several months now and had previously been used to frying with regular cast iron or stainless steel. I have a flat top stove and am not supposed to use my cast iron on it so I thought I would try this one instead. I've found that the interior is better than stainless steel for cooking certain things (like over-easy eggs) with a simple clean-up and minimal sticking. It's also good for reheating left-over meals, or making pancakes.
However, when I tried cooking things like sausage, or stir-fry meat, or with any sauces that contained sugar, I ended up with charred bits that would not come off. I tried boiling the pan with vinegar, or scouring gently with baking soda and nothing works. I did of course follow the directions and have never cooked on any setting above medium (usually, I use medium low). Then I made the mistake of frying falafel in the pan. I now have a permanent layer of caramelized oil on the bottom of my pan. Add the two chips on the handle that came off within the first week of use (and I am extremely gentle with this pan), and I would have to say I am fairly disappointed.
I also own the Lodge Enamel 6 quart dutch oven, and that item is fabulous. Not a chip or stain on it, even though I use it extensively. Also, I have fried up some of the same things in the dutch oven as the fry pan - with no sticking/stains in the dutch oven, but with permanently charred bits in the fry pan. Lodge should have made this one with the glossy interior.
Perhaps I'll replace this one with the 3 quart covered casserole since it has the glossy interior.
